Tax Manager – Warrensburg, MO (Future Office Leader)
Anchor Point Advisory Group | CPA Firm | Full-Time Flexible Schedule + Competitive Pay + Bonus + Growth Track
Anchor Point Advisory Group has expanded into Warrensburg through the acquisition of a long-standing local CPA practice. We’re bringing a progressive, value-added approach to tax planning and advisory - without losing the relationship-driven culture clients love in a local firm.
This Tax Manager role is ideal for a CPA with strong individual and business tax experience who wants to lead, build relationships, and become one of the faces of our Warrensburg office.
If you're in the Kansas City suburban market and feel boxed in by the larger-firm business model - this is a chance to run with more autonomy, work closer to clients, and help shape the future of a growing firm.
What You’ll Do
As a Tax Manager, you’ll manage client relationships, review and prepare returns, lead planning conversations, and help us expand advisory services in the region.
Core responsibilities include:
- Review and prepare complex individual and business tax returns (corporations, partnerships, trusts, multi-state, etc.)
- Lead client-facing tax planning, including proactive year-round strategy
- Manage workflow and deadlines across the tax calendar (not just March/April)
- Mentor and develop staff and interns; review their work and provide feedback
- Serve as a trusted advisor to small business owners - helping them make decisions, not just file returns
- Help grow and modernize the Warrensburg office with a strong local presence
- Collaborate with leadership on client experience, pricing, and process improvements
Who We’re Looking For
Someone who wants to be valued, not buried. Someone who enjoys client relationships, takes pride in quality work, and can handle complexity - but also wants a role where you have a voice and can build something.
You’re a great fit if you have:
- CPA license (required)
- 5+ years of tax experience (public accounting preferred)
- Strong experience with individual and business returns
- Solid tax research and planning capability
- The confidence and professionalism to lead client meetings independently
- A strong service mindset and proactive communication style
- Interest in becoming a local leader and eventually a “go-to” person for the office
This is a visible leadership track role. You’ll have:
- A direct hand in shaping the future of a newly acquired office
- A clear path to becoming the leader and “face” of the Warrensburg team
- Room to bring ideas, build relationships, and grow advisory services
- A small-firm culture with real ownership of client outcomes
- Support from an established firm with progressive tools, systems, and strategy
- A seat at the management table of the firm, overall
What We Offer
- Competitive salary (commensurate with experience)
- Performance bonus opportunity
- Retirement and paid time off
- Flexible schedule
- Paid CPE and professional development
- A leadership track for the right person - this can become much bigger than a “tax manager” role
Location
This position is based in Warrensburg, Missouri, and is ideal for someone who wants to:
- Get out of the KC sprawl commute
- Have a shorter drive / lower cost of living
- Become a known professional in the community
- Still be within reach of Kansas City when needed
