Whole Foods Market is rethinking how products are presented on every shelf in every store, and this Program Manager III role puts you at the center of that work. You will own the planogram expansion strategy and micro space planning program, defining how categories are merchandised to drive sales, reduce shrink, and improve the in-store shopping experience. Working across Product Management, Merchandising Planning, Retail Operations, and Category Merchandising, you will turn ambiguous problems into clear roadmaps with measurable outcomes. If you are energized by building strategy from the ground up and delivering programs that change how a national grocery retailer operates, this is the role for you.
Key job responsibilities
- Define and manage the planogram expansion strategy roadmap, including researching category criteria, identifying fixture requirements, and determining the right approach to maximize value through improved space allocation, reduced shrink, and labor savings.
- Develop the micro space shelf accessory strategy, balancing operational efficiency with customer shopability and identifying opportunities to maximize economies of scale with accessory vendors.
- Drive alignment across Product Management, Merchandising Planning, Retail Operations, and Category Merchandising by facilitating crisp decision-making and communicating progress and outcomes to directors and vice presidents through well-crafted narratives.
- Analyze data and metrics to identify improvement opportunities, proactively mitigate risks before they become roadblocks, and build reporting mechanisms that keep programs on track.
- Contribute to the Space Capabilities team's strategic planning efforts, including system connectivity improvements and compliance-driven defect reduction, while mentoring fellow program managers on best practices.
A day in the life You start your morning reviewing planogram implementation metrics and flagging categories that need attention. Mid-morning, you lead a working session with Merchandising Planning and Retail Operations to align on fixture requirements for an upcoming category rollout. After lunch, you draft a narrative summarizing your accessory strategy recommendations for leadership review. Later, you connect with Product Management to unblock a system connectivity dependency and wrap up the afternoon refining your expansion roadmap based on new category performance data.
