The Opportunity
Aeroflow Health's IT Operations team plays a critical role in supporting the technology infrastructure that keeps our business running and enables us to serve patients nationwide.
Our team manages a diverse technology environment spanning on-premises infrastructure, virtualized systems, cloud platforms, and enterprise applications. We partner across the organization to ensure our systems are secure, reliable, scalable, and positioned to support the company's evolving needs.
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you'll have an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the stability, performance, and future direction of our infrastructure.
We're looking for an experienced engineer who brings deep technical expertise, enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges, and can look beyond immediate issues to anticipate what the business will need next.
This is an opportunity for someone who wants to do more than maintain existing systems. You'll help evaluate our current environment, identify opportunities for improvement, strengthen infrastructure performance, and contribute to long-term capacity planning and technology decisions.
You'll work alongside experienced IT professionals in a collaborative environment where your technical knowledge, recommendations, and problem-solving abilities can make a tangible difference.
Your Primary Responsibilities
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you'll help manage, optimize, and strengthen Aeroflow's enterprise systems and infrastructure while contributing to the team's long-term technology strategy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Infrastructure Administration: Configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize enterprise systems, including Windows Server environments, virtualization platforms, and associated infrastructure technologies.
- Virtualization & Storage: Support and enhance virtualized environments, with particular emphasis on Microsoft Hyper-V, System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM), and enterprise storage solutions.
- Infrastructure Optimization: Evaluate existing infrastructure configurations, identify performance or capacity concerns, and recommend improvements that enhance reliability, efficiency, and scalability.
- Capacity Planning & Future Readiness: Monitor infrastructure utilization, anticipate future resource needs, and contribute to hardware planning, budgeting, and long-term infrastructure decisions.
- Systems Administration: Manage and support Windows Domain Services, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and related technologies.
- Automation & Efficiency: Leverage PowerShell scripting and other automation tools to streamline administration, improve consistency, and reduce manual processes.
- Endpoint Management: Support enterprise endpoint management, software deployments, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle strategies using tools such as SCCM.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Serve as an escalation resource for complex systems issues, partnering with the Service Desk and other IT teams to identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with systems, network, and application teams, along with external vendors, to support infrastructure improvements, system integrations, and technology initiatives.
- Documentation & Standards: Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and system standards to promote consistency, reliability, and knowledge sharing.
- Security & Compliance: Support system security, infrastructure standards, and applicable regulatory requirements, including HIPAA and patient confidentiality.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to strengthen systems, improve operational processes, and contribute to infrastructure architecture and technology planning.
Additional expectations:
- Maintain knowledge of and comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Recognize compliance as a condition of employment and an element of job performance.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance as assigned by your schedule.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills for Success
The strongest candidates will bring a combination of technical depth, sound judgment, and the ability to think strategically about infrastructure needs.
- Deep Technical Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency in at least one core infrastructure area, such as Hyper-V, SCVMM, or enterprise storage, with working knowledge of related technologies.
- Infrastructure Problem-Solving: Ability to assess complex environments, identify configuration or performance issues, and recommend practical, sustainable solutions.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to anticipate infrastructure growth, evaluate capacity requirements, and make recommendations that support future business needs.
- Technical Ownership: Confidence to independently investigate challenges, recommend improvements, and follow solutions through implementation.
- Analytical Decision-Making: Ability to evaluate infrastructure performance, understand technical tradeoffs, and make informed recommendations.
- Adaptability & Learning: Willingness and ability to quickly learn unfamiliar technologies and apply existing expertise across different platforms.
- Collaboration & Communication: Ability to work effectively with engineers, vendors, leadership, and nontechnical stakeholders while clearly communicating technical concepts and recommendations.
- Organization & Prioritization: Ability to manage competing priorities, troubleshoot critical issues, and contribute to multiple projects in a dynamic environment.

What We Look For
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical expertise with curiosity, initiative, and a genuine desire to improve the systems they support.
The ideal candidate doesn't simply maintain an environment because that's how it's always been configured. They ask thoughtful questions, evaluate how things are working, and identify opportunities to make them better.
You'll be successful here if you:
- Think beyond the immediate problem. You consider how today's infrastructure decisions will affect performance, scalability, and reliability tomorrow.
- Bring solutions, not just observations. You can identify an issue, explain why it matters, and recommend a practical path forward.
- Take ownership. You're comfortable working independently, making recommendations, and following through on technical initiatives.
- Balance expertise with curiosity. You bring meaningful depth in your areas of specialization while remaining eager to learn and collaborate across technologies.
- Communicate with confidence and humility. You can explain complex technical issues clearly, welcome different perspectives, and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
- Care about the bigger picture. You recognize that reliable infrastructure ultimately supports the employees, clinicians, and patients who depend on Aeroflow every day.
