Job Title: Mechanical EngineerJob DescriptionResponsible for the design, development, and continuous improvement of company products, including eHouse, switchgear, and transfer switch product lines. This role contributes to product design efforts from concept through release.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical systems, assemblies, and components for eHouse, switchgear, and transfer switch product lines.
- Create and maintain 3D models, engineering drawings, bills of material, and technical documentation.
- Support product modifications and enhancements based on customer requirements, manufacturing feedback, and quality improvements.
- Perform engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, and design reviews to ensure product performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with electrical, manufacturing, and project engineering teams throughout the product development process.
- Support the development and implementation of engineering design standards, templates, and best practices.
- Promote consistency in design methods, documentation, modeling techniques, and drawing standards across engineering teams.
- Identify opportunities to improve engineering workflows and design processes.
- Assist with maintaining engineering specifications, standard details, and design guidelines.
- Investigate product performance, manufacturing, and field issues and develop practical engineering solutions.
- Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering and Operations to improve product manufacturability and assembly efficiency.
- Support engineering change requests and implementation of product updates.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities related to product quality concerns.
- Coordinate with project teams to ensure designs meet customer, regulatory, manufacturing, and quality requirements.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing, procurement, and project management teams.
- Mentor junior engineers and share technical knowledge and design best practices.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- 4 plus years of mechanical design or product engineering experience.
- Experience designing industrial equipment, enclosures, modular structures, or engineered-to-order products.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and experience in creating and reviewing engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM) principles.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with UL standards such as 508A, 891, and 1008 is strongly desired.
- MTR certification is a plus.
Work EnvironmentThe position is based in a very clean, new facility that is temperature-controlled with a modern open concept office environment. The role involves spending 50% of the time on the floor, engaging with new equipment and processes. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bedford, OH. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $48.00 - $58.00/hr.
