The Role:
Our Engineering teams depend on a wide range of cloud and SaaS platforms to do their work. Someone has to decide who gets into each of them, with what permissions, and make sure that is still the right answer six months later. That is the core of this job.
Much of your time goes to account, access, and identity work: provisioning and deprovisioning across our SaaS and cloud platforms, designing and maintaining the groups and roles that grant access rather than handing out permissions one at a time, running onboarding and offboarding end to end, managing software licensing and vendor relationships, and supporting the access audits our compliance obligations depend on.
Other responsibilities include hands-on and onsite: hardware and workstation support, new hire equipment setup, conference room A/V, printers, inventory, and technical support for town halls and leadership meetings. A smaller share of the week than the access work, and the part that keeps people unblocked day to day.
There is also room for some Cloud and DevOps work alongside our Cloud Engineering team - up to 50% of your time. It is uneven: some weeks there is a real project to sink your teeth into, other weeks none at all. The natural starting point is automating your own work, since provisioning, deprovisioning, and access reporting are all problems best solved with code. To be clear about what this role is: it is primarily IT, and we expect it to stay that way.
You will work on a small, senior team with a degree of latitude to improve how all of this works.
Here are some of the ways in which you’ll achieve impact:
- Manage accounts and identity across our cloud and SaaS platforms, including the long tail of tools individual teams depend on.
- Design and maintain the group and role structures behind access, so permissions are granted through a model you can explain and audit rather than one-off grants nobody can reconstruct later.
- Run onboarding end to end: accounts, licenses, and application access coordinated with corporate IT and application owners, plus hardware ready and tested before the start date.
- Run offboarding so that when someone leaves, access is fully and verifiably removed across every system.
- Support recurring access audits and access reviews: gathering evidence, reconciling accounts against our identity provider, and closing the gaps you find.
- Manage software licensing and vendor administration, including seats, renewals, and invoices.
- Serve as the first point of contact for hardware issues - laptops, monitors, docking stations, keyboards, mice and peripherals - resolving locally and escalating when needed.
- Keep conference room A/V working - TVs, video conferencing systems, and room booking panels - so meetings start on time.
- Provide technical support for town halls, leadership meetings, presentations, and other events.
- Troubleshoot printers end to end: connectivity, drivers and software, toner, and routine maintenance.
- Run preventative maintenance on conference room A/V, printers, and shared technology, catching problems before employees hit them.
- Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and supplies, monitor stock levels, and flag items for reorder before they run out.
- Coordinate with corporate IT and outside vendors when an issue cannot be resolved locally.
- Document what you build and automate what repeats.
You may be fit for this role if you:
- Have 2+ years administering SaaS and identity platforms such as Google Workspace, Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, GitHub, or Atlassian. Administering them, not just using them.
- Think in groups and roles rather than individual grants, and can explain why that matters.
- Have run onboarding and offboarding as a process you owned, not just tickets you closed.
- Are also genuinely hands-on - comfortable imaging a laptop, building out a workstation, and tracking down why a docking station will not drive two monitors.
- Have supported conference room A/V and video conferencing, and can stay calm doing it with a room full of people waiting.
- Keep good records: inventory, documentation, and a clear trail of what was done and why.
- Communicate clearly and patiently with people who are blocked and frustrated.
- Can take a vague request, work out what is needed, and close it out without being chased.
- Preferred: experience with Google Cloud. AWS or Azure experience is also valuable, particularly around IAM, directory, and account management.
- Do not need scripting experience but are willing to pick it up. Python is what we use most, and we will support you learning it.
- Bonus: exposure to access reviews, user audits, or compliance evidence gathering.
- Have an undergraduate degree in a related field. Related experience considered in place of degree if the candidate is very strong.
It’s not expected that any single candidate would have expertise across all of these areas. If you are strong on access and identity administration and comfortable with the hands-on side too, we are eager to talk to you.
Candidates should be comfortable with an on-site presence to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership.
