At Zone 5 Technologies, we're redefining what's possible in precision weapons and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). Our team of engineers and innovators are developing cutting-edge autonomous solutions to deliver affordable and scalable precision weapons, interceptors, and UAS.

We're building the next generation of munitions and unmanned systems for the United States and its allies. If you're driven by hard problems, energized by rapid innovation, and ready to make an impact on defense technology, you belong here.

At Zone 5 Technologies, we're redefining what's possible in unmanned aircraft systems. Our team of engineers and innovators is developing cutting-edge autonomous solutions that push the boundaries of UAS technology - solving complex challenges that matter.

We're building the future of UAS capabilities, and we're looking for exceptional talent to join us. If you're driven by hard problems, energized by rapid innovation, and ready to make an impact on next-generation flight systems, you belong here.

The EE System Manufacturing Engineer V/VI is a senior-level role that bridges electrical design and production. This position owns the manufacturability, testability, and production readiness of Zone 5's electrical systems - including circuit card assemblies, wire harnesses, and avionics subassemblies - and drives quality and yield improvements as programs ramp to rate production.

Responsibilities:

Design for Manufacturing & Test: Partner with Electrical Engineering early in design to drive DFM/DFT practices for PCBAs, harnesses, and electrical assemblies.
Production Readiness: Develop work instructions, build processes, and production test procedures to transition designs from prototype to production.
Production Test: Define and implement production and acceptance test equipment and fixtures (functional testers, harness testers, ATE), including test software and data collection.
Quality & Yield: Monitor production metrics, lead root cause and corrective action (RCCA) investigations, and drive yield improvements.
Nonconformance Management: Disposition nonconforming material and support Material Review Board (MRB) activities.
Supplier Support: Work with contract manufacturers and suppliers on process capability, first article inspections (AS9102), and quality issues.
Change Implementation: Implement engineering change orders on the production floor and ensure configuration control of production builds.
Process Improvement: Apply lean manufacturing principles to reduce cost, cycle time, and rework.
Mentorship: Mentor engineers and technicians in manufacturing engineering and electrical workmanship best practices.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: 10+ years of experience in electrical manufacturing or production engineering in aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability industries.
Skills:
Strong working knowledge of IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, and IPC/WHMA-A-620 workmanship standards.
Experience developing production test fixtures and automated test equipment.
Proven experience leading RCCA investigations and closing nonconformances.
Ability to read and interpret schematics, harness drawings, and assembly drawings.
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
U.S. Person status required due to export control regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience ramping avionics or weapon system production to rate.
Lean / Six Sigma certification.
Experience with test automation software (e.g., Python, LabVIEW, TestStand).
Experience with ERP/MES systems and AS9100 / AS6500-aligned production processes.
Active U.S. security clearance or ability to obtain.

Level V: $175,000 - $215,000

Level VI: $201,000 - $251,000 Pay range for this role

$175,000 - $251,000 USD

What's in it for you:

Benefits:

Competitive total compensation package
Comprehensive benefit package options include medical, dental, vision, life, and more.
401k with company-match
3 weeks of paid time off each year
40 hours of sick time
12 annual company holidays
