The Opportunity

We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer who is an exceptional individual contributor, enjoys solving difficult technical problems, and knows how to turn ideas into working software quickly.

This is not a role for someone who wants to spend most of their time managing developers, attending meetings, or debating architecture.

We want a builder.

You'll work directly with engineering and product leadership to design, develop, and ship core features of our AI-powered legal technology platform.

You'll have meaningful ownership, significant autonomy, and the opportunity to help shape the architecture and engineering standards of a growing software company.

What You'll Own

1. Full-Stack Product Development

• Design, build, and maintain production-ready frontend and backend applications.
• Take features from requirements through architecture, development, testing, and deployment.
• Develop intuitive interfaces and reliable backend services.
• Build and maintain APIs, integrations, databases, and application infrastructure.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code.

2. AI-Native Engineering

• Use modern AI development tools to accelerate coding, debugging, testing, and documentation.
• Integrate large language models and AI-powered capabilities into production applications.
• Develop AI-powered workflows and automation features.
• Evaluate new AI technologies and recommend practical applications.
• Maintain engineering quality while increasing development velocity.

3. Architecture and Scalability

• Help design a secure, scalable, multi-tenant SaaS platform.
• Make thoughtful decisions around performance, reliability, security, and maintainability.
• Build systems that can support a growing customer base.
• Collaborate on technical architecture and infrastructure decisions.
• Identify and eliminate technical bottlenecks.

4. Quality and Execution

• Own the quality of the features you deliver.
• Implement automated testing and participate in code reviews.
• Diagnose and resolve production bugs quickly.
• Maintain high standards for security and data integrity.
• Deliver committed work on time and communicate blockers early.

5. Startup Collaboration

• Work closely with product managers, engineering leadership, and business stakeholders.
• Translate complex business problems into simple technical solutions.
• Challenge unnecessary complexity and recommend better approaches.
• Take initiative without waiting for detailed instructions.
• Help establish practical engineering standards as the company scales.

Must-Have Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant full-stack development experience.
• Proven experience building and shipping production SaaS applications.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript and modern frontend frameworks such as React or Next.js.
• Strong backend development experience using Node.js, Python, or comparable technologies.
• Experience designing REST APIs, working with relational databases, and building integrations.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Demonstrated ability to independently own features from concept through production.
• Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or comparable solutions.
• Strong understanding of testing, debugging, security, and performance optimization.
• Experience working in fast-paced environments with changing priorities.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Strongly Preferred

• Experience working at an early-stage SaaS startup.
• Experience building multi-tenant software platforms.
• Experience integrating LLM APIs, AI agents, or workflow automation.
• Experience with AI orchestration, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or tool calling.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated QA, and infrastructure as code.
• Familiarity with HIPAA, SOC 2, or other data-security and compliance frameworks.
• Experience building legal technology, healthcare technology, or other complex workflow products.
• Experience working directly with founders or small product teams.
