Original job description

Who We Are:

Yoga Alliance is the largest nonprofit membership association of yoga professionals, practitioners, and advocates around the globe. We believe if more people practice yoga, the better the world will be. We’re here to amplify the power of yoga and to make it accessible to anyone wherever they are, under whatever circumstances by:

Uplifting the transformative power of yoga,
Surfacing and reducing barriers to the practice, and
Building, engaging, and supporting the yoga community.

Our member-driven community is a diverse collective of wisdom holders, yoga educators, and teachers expanding their expertise; a welcoming space for those newly exploring yoga; a place for seasoned practitioners to deepen their practice; and a supportive hub where community leaders, organizations, and businesses can leverage yoga for social good. At the core of Yoga Alliance lies a profound commitment to our people. Here, every team member is empowered to lead, innovate, dream, create, and grow. Diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility and belonging guide our way of being in work and in working with each other. We champion a culture of collaboration, where learning from failures is as valued as achieving success. Together, we challenge the status quo and push the boundaries of what is possible.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Director of Digital Experience Yoga Alliance is seeking a Salesforce Developer to join our team. Salesforce is the backbone of how we serve our members -- it holds their critical information and powers credentialing, membership, and communications. Yoga Alliance is adding this newly created role to its team to give the platform a dedicated in-house owner who can strengthen and grow Salesforce over time. Reporting to the Director of Digital Experience, this role will partner cross-functionally with internal teams and externally with the implementation partner to ensure the Salesforce environment is reliable and stable, as well as manage day-to-day requests from members and staff, and help deliver the improvements on the product roadmap.

What You Will Do:

Administration and Configuration

Own incident response during renewals, launches, and peak periods, making time-sensitive calls and coordinating fixes with the external partner when needed.
Manage users, profiles, permission sets, roles, and license assignments across the organization
Build and maintain declarative automation with Flow, validation rules, and approval processes.
Configure objects, fields, page layouts, record types, and Lightning App pages.
Build and maintain CRM and operational reports and dashboards: membership records, case volume, renewals, and internal team dashboards.
Maintain data quality across records through deduplication, standardization, and ongoing hygiene.
Work through the support and enhancement backlog, prioritizing the highest-impact tickets first.

Development

Write, test, and maintain Apex (triggers, classes, batch and scheduled jobs) where configuration alone is not enough.
Build Lightning Web Components for custom interfaces.
Build and configure member portal experiences on Experience Cloud within the product and UX direction set by the Director of Digital Experience.
Support and maintain the platform's integrations over REST and SOAP APIs: Absorb LMS (SSO enrollment and completion sync), Stripe and Blackthorn payments, Marketing Cloud journey triggers, and Pendo.
Write unit tests that meet Salesforce's 75% minimum, with higher coverage on business-critical logic.
Run deployments and sandbox refreshes following the release schedule and environment strategy set by the Director of Digital Experience and the external implementation partner.

Collaboration and Delivery

Own user acceptance testing and post-launch stabilization across a launch-heavy roadmap, including participating in UAT cycles, triaging defects, and resolving the post-launch backlog after each release.
Translate defined business requirements into technical designs and build specifications, advising stakeholders on feasibility, effort, and tradeoffs.
Collaborate day-to-day with the external implementation partner on assigned development and release items, with the partner relationship and scoping staying with the Director of Digital Experience.
Document configuration, customizations, and decisions so the org stays maintainable.
Track Salesforce releases and adopt relevant features and best practices.

What You Will Bring:

5+ years of hands-on Salesforce experience across administration and development.
Salesforce Administrator certification.
Salesforce Platform App Builder certification.
Salesforce Platform Developer I certification.
Strong command of the Salesforce security model: profiles, permission sets, sharing rules, and organizational-wide defaults.
Hands-on experience with:
Experience Cloud, Service Cloud, or Marketing Cloud
Declarative automation, especially Flow
Source control and deployment tooling: Salesforce DX, Git, and CI/CD
Coordinating work with external implementation or development partners
Working proficiency in Apex, SOQL/SOSL, and Lightning Web Components.
Familiarity with REST and SOAP API integrations.
Strong written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Strong project management skills with a proven track record of proactively managing expectations and ensuring consistent follow through and delivery.
Demonstrated commitment to and experience advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging in the workplace or community settings.
Curious and proactively scans the horizon to stay abreast of technology, creative approaches, and novel ideas to experiment, test, and apply.
Ability to travel as needed to Yoga Alliance’s Arlington, VA office to participate in organizational meetings, trainings and retreats.

Desired Qualifications:

Salesforce Platform Developer II certification.
Experience with credentialing or certification systems: renewals, application flows, and the underlying data model. Ideally at a membership organization, nonprofit, or association.
Experience with data deduplication and data quality tooling within Salesforce.
Familiarity with Agile or Scrum delivery.
Experience coordinating work with external implementation or development partners.

We encourage individuals to apply even if they do not have any of the desired qualifications.

What We Offer:

Yoga Alliance provides robust employee benefits including comprehensive health insurance plan offerings that are 100% employer paid for employees and 65% paid for dependents, a matching 401K plan, a generous paid-leave program including parental leave and sabbatical leave, and reimbursement for professional development opportunities. Employees enjoy a casual dress code so they can arrive to work as their most authentic selves. Our organizational culture is supportive and collaborative with conscious attention to body and mind health.

Location:

This position is remote and will require the individual to be able to travel as needed. Yoga Alliance is based in Arlington, Virginia within sight of the historic northwest region of Washington, DC.

Salary Range:

$102,000 - $112,000 (commensurate with experience). This position is a full-time, exempt position.

Application and Timeline:

Interested applicants are encouraged to apply by November 16, 2026 to ensure priority consideration of your application. We will continue to review applications on a rolling basis after this priority deadline until the position is filled. A cover letter is required and all cover letters will be read during the application review process. Please, no phone calls or walk-ins.

Our Commitment to an Inclusive Workplace:

At Yoga Alliance, we value a diverse team and a culture of inclusivity and belonging. We encourage applications from all individuals without regard to an individuals' race, color, sex, gender identity, gender expression, religion, age, national origin or ancestry, physical or mental disability, medical condition, family care status, marital status, domestic partner status, sexual orientation, genetic information, military or veteran status, or any other basis protected by federal, state or local laws.
