- Component Setup & Alignment: Position pre-cut lumber components onto assembly tables or jigging systems according to specified dimensions and angles.
- Connector Plate Placement: Place metal connector plates (gang-nail plates) at structural joints and secure them temporarily using hammers or pneumatic tools.
- Equipment Operation: Operate gantry presses and roller presses to firmly embed connector plates into timber assemblies.
- Quality Assurance: Inspect finished trusses for dimensional accuracy, joint tightness, plate embedding, and lumber quality before releasing items for stacking.
- Material Stacking & Banding: Assist in offloading completed trusses from assembly lines onto staging rollers, bundling/banding trusses securely for transport.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine daily maintenance and cleanup on tools, press tables, and machinery; report equipment defects immediately to management.

- Manual Dexterity: High degree of hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate power tools, hardware, small connector plates, and heavy lumber.
- Environmental Conditions: Comfort working in a fast-paced, noisy manufacturing environment subject to variable ambient indoor/outdoor temperatures, wood dust, and machinery noise.
- Visual & Auditory Acuity: Sufficient vision to read detailed blueprints, tape measures, and safety signs, alongside auditory ability to hear plant warning signals.
- General Information
- Work Schedule: Standard full-time schedule (40 hours/week) with mandatory overtime, early morning shifts, or Saturday shifts required during peak construction seasons.
- Workplace Environment: Industrial plant environment. Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) includes safety glasses, ear protection, and high-visibility shirts.
- Benefits Package: Includes comprehensive Health, Dental, and Vision insurance, 401(k) program, Paid Time Off (PTO), and paid holidays.
- Career Advancement: Opportunities for cross-training, promotion into Lead Assembler, Quality Control Inspector, Saw Operator, or Plant Supervisor roles.
- Job Qualifications & Education
- Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent trade school certification strongly preferred. Relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Work Experience: 6–12 months of experience in residential/commercial framing, carpentry, wood manufacturing, or general construction preferred (entry-level candidates willing to train are encouraged to apply).
- Measurement Competency: Proven ability to read standard tape measures down to 1/16th of an inch accurately; basic math skills required for measuring and counting.
- Prerequisites: Must be at least 18 years of age and pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
- Key Skills & Competencies
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with pneumatic nail guns, hammers, hydraulic presses, radial arm saws, and handheld power tools.
- Blueprint Literacy: Basic understanding of construction schematics, truss layouts, and dimensional diagrams.
- Teamwork & Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to coordinate smoothly with jig setters, sawyers, crane operators, and plant supervisors.
