About us

Worley is a global company of energy, chemicals and resources experts headquartered in Australia. We partner with our customers to deliver projects and create value across the life of their assets. We specialize in consulting, engineering, procurement and construction across the project lifecycle, with services extending through to operations and decommissioning. Leveraging extensive experience and AI-enabled delivery, we support customers in navigating complexity as they meet today's needs and transition to more sustainable solutions. Purpose As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will provide advanced technical expertise and engineering leadership for structural engineering activities across medium to large, complex projects. You will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality, safe, and constructible structural designs, while supporting project execution, mentoring junior engineers, and contributing to continuous improvement of standards, tools, and best practices. This Senior Structural Engineer role balances strong hands-on technical capability with project leadership, technical oversight, client interaction, and support to the broader Structural Engineering function across multidisciplinary projects in the energy, chemicals, mining, infrastructure, and industrial sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Delivery & Engineering Leadership

  • Lead and execute structural engineering design activities for medium to large, complex projects.
  • Develop and review structural engineering deliverables, including:
  • Structural design calculations and analysis
  • Foundations, concrete, steel, and modular structure designs

  • Design criteria, philosophies, and technical reports
  • Ensure designs are safe, constructible, and compliant with applicable codes, standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Resolve complex technical issues, non-standard design conditions, and design deviations.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to Intermediate and Junior Structural Engineers.
  • Perform and coordinate independent checks and technical reviews of structural deliverables.

Project Execution & Coordination

  • Act as a Senior Structural Engineer on project teams, coordinating closely with project management, other engineering disciplines, designers, and clients.
  • Contribute to development of structural scopes of work, execution plans, schedules, and staffing plans.
  • Support project delivery through all phases of the project lifecycle (concept, FEED, detailed design, and construction support).
  • Provide technical input to change management, technical risk mitigation, and resolution of scope or design changes.
  • Interface with clients, vendors, fabricators, and construction teams on technical matters.

Quality, Safety & Standards

  • Champion safety in design, engineering quality, and technical excellence across all structural engineering activities.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate engineering standards and applicable industry codes (CSA, AISC, ACI, Eurocodes, etc.).
  • Participate in design reviews, audits, and lessons-learned initiatives.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of structural engineering standards, tools, templates, and work processes.

Mentorship & Capability Development

  • Provide technical mentorship, coaching, and guidance to junior members of the structural engineering team.
  • Support the technical development of the discipline through knowledge sharing, training, and on-the-job development.
  • Act as a technical escalation point for complex structural engineering challenges within project teams.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s degree considered an asset).
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada (or eligible for registration).
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience delivering structural engineering work on industrial, energy, mining, infrastructure, or heavy industrial projects.
  • Proven experience performing and reviewing structural design across the full project lifecycle (concept through detailed design and construction support).
  • Strong technical expertise in steel and concrete design, foundations, and structural analysis.
  • Solid working knowledge of applicable design codes, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Experience supporting proposals, estimates, and front-end engineering activities is considered an asset.

Core Competencies
