EI&C Walkdown Onsite Engineer Northern Colorado | Aligned to Worley’s Denver Office | Onsite Seconded Role We are seeking an experienced EI&C Walkdown Onsite Engineer to work onsite at a customer facility in northern Colorado as part of a seconded assignment, while remaining aligned with Worley’s Denver office and project team. Play an integral role in supporting electrical, instrumentation, and controls (EI&C) projects through field verification, technical design, and accurate engineering documentation. As an EI&C Walkdown Onsite Engineer, you will serve as a key connection between field conditions, engineering design, construction, and operations, helping ensure project deliverables accurately reflect installed systems and support safe, reliable operations and future capital projects. This is a field-focused, onsite position that combines hands-on facility walkdowns with EI&C design responsibilities. You will work closely with the customer at their northern Colorado facility while coordinating with Worley’s Denver-based and remote engineering and design teams. You will assess existing conditions, develop and update engineering drawings and documentation, coordinate across project teams and engineering disciplines, and help drive design activities from initial scoping through final deliverables. Purpose of the role The EI&C Walkdown Onsite Engineer provides field and design support for multiple projects, serving as a primary design point of contact for assigned work. In this seconded role, you will work onsite within the customer’s operating environment, providing day-to-day technical support while maintaining close alignment with Worley’s Denver office. You will perform field walkdowns and site assessments, support project scoping, verify installations against engineering documentation, identify field-versus-design discrepancies, and develop accurate EI&C design and as-built deliverables. Working closely with project engineers, operations and maintenance personnel, construction teams, the Denver portfolio lead, Worley design resources, and other stakeholders, you will help coordinate scope, design activities, resource needs, and project delivery while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and technical accuracy.

You will be responsible for:

Field Walkdowns & Project Support

  • Serve as the primary design point of contact for assigned projects, coordinating engineering and design activities with Worley teams, the customer, and other stakeholders.
  • Work onsite at the customer’s northern Colorado facility as part of a seconded assignment, while maintaining alignment and regular coordination with Worley’s Denver office.
  • Support multiple concurrent projects while maintaining effective communication, organization, and alignment with project teams and engineers.
  • Perform field walkdowns, site assessments, and pre-scoping activities as directed by the customer to support project development.
  • Verify electrical, instrumentation, and controls installations against engineering drawings and documentation, identifying and documenting field-versus-design discrepancies.
  • Capture field conditions and prepare redlines, markups, and as-built documentation reflecting installed equipment and systems.
  • Identify technical, safety, operability, maintenance, and constructability considerations encountered during field activities.
  • Coordinate with operations, maintenance, engineering, construction, and project teams to validate existing conditions and resolve technical or documentation issues.
  • Coordinate with the Denver portfolio lead on scope development, project delivery, resource requirements, and related project needs.
  • Participate in bi-weekly check-ins with the I&E Projects Team, with weekly check-ins initially.

EI&C Design & Technical Deliverables

Develop, review, modify, and maintain EI&C engineering and design deliverables, including:

  • Electrical one-line diagrams
  • Area classification drawings
  • Grounding plans and installation details
  • Power distribution drawings and panel schedules
  • Conduit and cable schedules
  • Cable tray layouts
  • PLC wiring and panel layout drawings
  • Junction box wiring diagrams
  • Instrument installation details
  • Instrument indexes and bills of material (BOMs)
  • Panel fabrication details
  • Overall plot plans and equipment layouts
  • Field redlines, drawing revisions, and as-built documentation

Quality & Coordination

  • Take accountability for the quality, completeness, and accuracy of assigned design deliverables.
  • Perform design reviews and QA/QC of drawings and supporting documentation prior to engineer review and issue.
  • Coordinate development of supporting engineering deliverables across Worley and other engineering disciplines.
  • Coordinate with remote EI&C design resources, including the Bogotá, Colombia design team, to communicate field findings and incorporate design changes and as-built information into final deliverables.
  • Maintain accurate records of field observations, engineering drawings, markups, revisions, and documentation updates.
  • Communicate technical findings, project needs, and design concerns clearly and effectively with stakeholders.
  • Promote safe work practices and perform field activities in accordance with applicable safety requirements and site procedures.

What you’ll bring to the role You bring a strong combination of EI&C field experience and hands-on design capability, along with the ability to translate actual facility conditions into accurate, high-quality engineering deliverables. You are comfortable working independently onsite in an operating customer facility while staying closely connected with Worley’s Denver-based and remote project teams.

Required qualifications and experience:

  • Associate degree, technical diploma, engineering degree, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant industry experience.
  • Typically 7+ years of relevant experience in electrical, instrumentation, controls, engineering design, field engineering, construction, commissioning, maintenance, or related industrial disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience performing EI&C field walkdowns, site assessments, system verification, and as-built documentation activities.
  • Hands-on experience developing, reviewing, and modifying EI&C drawings and design deliverables, including electrical one-lines, wiring and panel drawings, grounding plans, cable and conduit schedules, instrument documentation, and equipment layouts.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical, instrumentation, and controls drawings, schematics, specifications, and related engineering documentation.
  • Working knowledge of industrial electrical distribution, instrumentation, control systems, and associated field equipment.
  • Experience identifying and resolving discrepancies between engineering documentation and actual field conditions.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform design reviews and QA/QC of drawings and technical documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to independently manage multiple concurrent projects and competing priorities.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to drive design activities and deliverables to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines, project teams, customers, operations, maintenance, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work safely and independently within operating industrial facilities.
  • Ability to work onsite at the customer’s facility in northern Colorado as required for this seconded assignment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and electronic document management systems.

Preferred experience:

  • Experience supporting brownfield facility modifications, capital projects, maintenance programs, or operational improvement initiatives.
  • Experience coordinating with remote or multi-office engineering and design teams.
  • Experience working within an EPC or multidisciplinary engineering environment.
