Original job description
Position Overview Worldpac is seeking a highly experienced Senior CloudOps Engineer to design, build, operate, and continuously improve the cloud platforms that power our high-volume wholesale distribution and automotive aftermarket business. As a member of the IT Infrastructure team, this role will be a key hands-on contributor to Worldpac's cloud infrastructure direction, strategy and operations, delivering the secure, scalable, observable, and cost-effective cloud foundations required to support our enterprise network, AI, data, and core enterprise applications. The ideal candidate is a seasoned cloud operations engineer who combines deep Microsoft Azure and/or AWS expertise with strong automation, infrastructure-as-code, and site reliability skills, and who thrives in a production-first, 24x7 distribution environment. The successful candidate will drive complex cloud projects to completion, provide thought leadership, and contribute to the development of junior other infrastructure team members in CloudOps areas. Key Responsibilities Cloud Platform Engineering & Operations Design, build, and operate Worldpac's hybrid cloud environment including both Microsoft Azure and AWS, including Landing Zones, subscriptions/accounts, networking, and identity integration. Own day-to-day cloud operations, including provisioning, configuration, patching, scaling, performance tuning, and lifecycle management of cloud compute, storage, database, and PaaS services. Engineer secure and resilient cloud connectivity between data centers, distribution centers, branches, and cloud environments (e.g., ExpressRoute, VPN, VNet/VPC peering, hub-and-spoke), in partnership with Network Engineering. Integrate cloud workloads with core enterprise platforms, including Microsoft Active Directory/Entra ID, Okta, Nutanix HCI, VMware, and Windows and Linux server environments. Support container and Kubernetes platforms (e.g., AKS, EKS), including cluster operations, upgrades, and standards aligned with core infrastructure. AI & GenAI Platform Enablement Build and operate secure, scalable cloud infrastructure for AI and GenAI platforms (Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock and AgentCore, Google Vertex AI, AI gateways, and MCP servers). Partner with AI Engineering, Data Strategy & Analytics, and Software Development teams to rapidly provision environments, GPU/compute capacity, data connectivity, and deployment pipelines for AI use cases. Implement networking, identity, secrets management, monitoring, and cost controls that enable safe, governed adoption of generative and agentic AI technologies. Design and support AI solutions connecting to enterprise systems such as Oracle Fusion, Salesforce, Workday, ServiceNow, IBM i (iSeries), and enterprise data platforms including Snowflake and/or Data Bricks. Automation, Infrastructure-as-Code & DevOps Champion infrastructure-as-code and automation (e.g., Terraform, Bicep/ARM, Ansible, PowerShell, Python) to deliver repeatable, version-controlled, and policy-compliant cloud deployments. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) for infrastructure and platform changes. Develop reusable modules, templates, and runbooks that reduce manual effort and accelerate delivery of new cloud services. Reliability, Monitoring & Incident Response Implement enterprise cloud monitoring and observability (e.g., Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, CloudWatch, SolarWinds) to drive proactive alerting, root-cause analysis, and capacity planning. Define and track availability, performance, and reliability metrics (SLOs) for cloud services supporting mission-critical systems. Design and test cloud backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity capabilities for critical workloads. Participate in major incident response, problem management, and post-incident reviews; follow ServiceNow ITSM change, incident, and CMDB processes. Periodic on-call rotation (via PagerDuty) serving as a high-level escalation point for our managed service provider (MSP) during critical system emergencies. Cloud Security & Compliance Apply cloud security best practices, including Zero Trust principles, least-privilege access, network segmentation, encryption, and secure configuration baselines, in partnership with Cybersecurity. Implement and maintain cloud governance guardrails using Azure Policy, AWS Organizations/SCPs, tagging standards, and role-based access control. Remediate cloud vulnerabilities and configuration findings, and support compliance and audit requirements (e.g., NIST CSF, SOX ITGC, PCI DSS). Collaboration & Technical Leadership Independently plan and deliver complex cloud engineering projects from design through implementation and post-deployment optimization, providing regular status updates to leadership. Provide indirect leadership, technical mentoring, and direction to junior engineers and contractors. Produce and maintain clear architecture diagrams, standards, and operational documentation. Work with the PMO (Project Management Office) to support and drive Cloud FinOps discipline, including expertise to improve cost visibility, tagging, rightsizing, reservations/savings plans, and budget alerting, with regular reporting to leadership. Work effectively with cloud providers, managed service partners, and vendors, ensuring accountability for service quality, scope, and cost. Required Qualifications & Skills 10+ years of progressive experience in enterprise IT infrastructure, cloud engineering, or cloud operations roles, including at least 5 years hands-on with Microsoft Azure and/or AWS in production environments. Deep hands-on expertise in Microsoft Azure (Landing Zones, VNets, Entra ID, Azure Monitor, Azure Policy, compute, storage, and PaaS services), with working knowledge of AWS. Experience enabling infrastructure for AI/GenAI platforms (e.g., Azure AI Foundry/Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, Google Cloud Platform Vertex AI), AI gateways, MCP servers, and agentic AI technologies. Strong experience with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools such as Terraform, Bicep/ARM, Ansible, PowerShell, and Python. Experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) and Git-based workflows. Experience with containers and Kubernetes (AKS and/or EKS) in production. Solid understanding of cloud networking, including hybrid connectivity (ExpressRoute, VPN), DNS, load balancing, routing (BGP), and network security controls. Strong knowledge of cloud security, identity and access management, and governance best practices. Experience with monitoring, observability, and incident management tools and ITIL-aligned processes (e.g., ServiceNow, PagerDuty). Experience with cloud FinOps practices and tools. Proven track record of independently leading and successfully delivering complex cloud infrastructure projects from conception to completion. Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across multi-vendor hybrid environments. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across IT, security, AI, and business teams. Self-starter with a proactive mindset and the ability to drive initiatives with minimal supervision. Flexibility for after-hours planned maintenance and emergency escalation support, including nights and weekends. Preferred Qualifications Experience in the automotive aftermarket or other high-volume distribution/wholesale industries. Experience supporting IBM i (iSeries), Oracle Fusion Cloud, Snowflake, and warehouse technology environments. Experience with Nutanix HCI, VMware vSphere, Palo Alto Networks cloud NGFW, Cloudflare, CrowdStrike, and Okta. Education / Certifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Cloud certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104), Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305), DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400), or AWS Solutions Architect or SysOps Administrator are highly desirable. Certifications such as HashiCorp Terraform Associate, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or ITIL are a plus. Posted Salary Range USD $150,000.00 - USD $170,000.00 /Yr.
