Original job description
Construction Superintendent Location: Southern California Compensation: $150,000 - $180,000 base salary
About the Role We are partnering with a general contracting company seeking a Construction Superintendent to lead day-to-day field operations and coordinate safe, organized project execution.
The Superintendent will translate project plans into daily work, coordinating subcontractors, site logistics, inspections, and quality expectations. Working closely with the Project Manager, this leader will identify constraints early and help crews maintain a reliable sequence of work.
The ideal candidate brings practical field experience, communicates expectations clearly, and builds accountability through a consistent presence on the jobsite.
What You'll Do
- Lead daily site operations and coordinate subcontractor activities, work areas, deliveries, and access.
- Develop and maintain look-ahead schedules with the Project Manager, identifying labor, material, inspection, and information needs.
- Reinforce project safety expectations, coordinate site orientations and safety discussions, and address unsafe conditions promptly.
- Review drawings, specifications, and approved submittals to guide field coordination and identify conflicts before installation.
- Monitor workmanship and coordinate inspections, testing, and correction of nonconforming work.
- Lead trade coordination meetings and communicate clear expectations for work sequence, site readiness, and completion.
- Maintain daily reports, progress documentation, and records of issues or conditions affecting the work.
- Partner with the Project Manager on scope changes, schedule impacts, and field decisions requiring owner or design-team input.
- Coordinate punch-list completion, final inspections, site cleanup, and turnover activities.
What We're Looking For
- Experience supervising construction field operations for a general contractor or in a comparable superintendent role.
- Knowledge of construction sequencing and coordination across building trades.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and submittals and communicate field issues clearly.
- Experience managing subcontractor activities, look-ahead schedules, inspections, and quality control.
- Practical knowledge of construction safety practices and the ability to reinforce jobsite expectations.
- Strong organization, sound judgment, and a direct, respectful approach to leading field teams.
- Comfort using digital tools for daily reports, drawings, scheduling, and project communication.
Why This Role Stands Out This role offers direct influence over how work gets done on the jobsite. You will help create the conditions for safe, productive construction, resolve practical challenges, and carry projects through to a successful handoff.
