Original job description

Wisq is the Agentic HR Platform behind Harper, the world’s first AI HR Generalist, and HRLM, the reasoning language model trained specifically for HR’s complex, policy-bound, compliance-heavy workflows. Enterprises use Wisq’s agentic platform to automate HR service delivery, transform HR operations, reduce the burden of administrative work, and improve employee experiences. As Agentic AI purpose-built for HR, Wisq reasons through scenarios and completes actions across systems, helping HR teams save time and focus on strategic work. Founded in 2022 by the team behind Glint, Wisq has raised $55 million from Norwest Venture Partners, Shasta Ventures, and True Ventures.

Role Overview We're seeking an Agent Engineer to work directly with our customers to implement, configure, and optimize Wisq for their unique HR environments. This role combines deep technical expertise with customer-facing skills to ensure successful deployments and ongoing success of our AI platform.

Key Responsibilities

Configure and deploy integrations with SSO, SCIM, HRIS/HCM platforms, and document management systems (examples: Workday, SharePoint, Dayforce)
Work directly with customers to understand their unique HR processes and requirements and gather technical requirements
Build agentic HR workflows leveraging the Wisq AI platform (Policy Administration, Employee Support, Service Delivery, and HR Operations)
Leveraging Wisq's cutting-edge RAG technology, synchronize customer content and validate Harper's question-answering capabilities
Develop configurable extraction algorithms to process diverse customer data formats - from bespoke performance review templates to non-standard file structures - in the data ingestion workflow.
Assist with HRIS updates and data maintenance
Troubleshoot integration issues and ensure seamless data flow between systems
Gather customer feedback and advocate for product improvements

Qualifications

Python - Strong proficiency for scripting, automation, and integration work
API Development - Experience with RESTful APIs, webhooks, and third-party integrations
JSON - Comfortable working with JSON data structures and parsing
Problem-solving - Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Experience with HR systems and HCM platforms (Workday, SharePoint, Dayforce, etc.)
Understanding of SSO protocols (SAML) and SCIM provisioning
Excellent communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
2+ years in a technical role involving customer integrations or implementations, preferred 5+ years
Java experience (beneficial but not required)
Skilled in AI prompt design, testing, and iterative refinement

Who You Are We're looking for exceptional engineers who thrive across the full spectrum of AI challenges - from fine-tuning to agentic workflows. You'll be the bridge between our cutting-edge AI technology and real-world customer needs, diving deep into technical integrations while building meaningful relationships with HR teams. You're equally comfortable writing Python scripts, building API integrations, and explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. You thrive in environments where no two days are the same - one moment you're troubleshooting a Workday integration, the next you're designing custom workflows for a client's unique PIP process. Working At Wisq Our tech stack includes (but isn’t limited to) Python, Java, Kafka, vector databases, reactive programming frameworks, and both commercial and open-weight LLMs - though we’re just as ready to adopt or invest new tools if the task calls for it. Our high velocity team moves fast, thinks big, and constantly pushes the boundaries of what’s possible on the bleeding edge of AI technology. We work hard, but maintain a deeply collaborative and fun-loving atmosphere - from virtual lunches and draw battles to cooking classes that bring our distributed team together. While our headquarters is in Redwood City, CA, we operate as a hybrid/remote team across the US. Wisq offers comprehensive health benefits, 401K, and a startup-level equity package.
