If you’re passionate about technology and eager to make a difference, Windward is the ideal place to elevate your career.

Windward is seeking a Cybersecurity SecOps Consultant who combines hands-on Security Operations knowledge with the consulting and delivery leadership needed to turn broad cybersecurity demands into executable plans. This is not a traditional project manager role. The successful candidate will understand how day-to-day cybersecurity organizations and platforms operate, advise technical and business stakeholders, independently structure ambiguous initiatives, and lead cross-functional cyber projects through planning, execution, adoption, and measurable outcomes. The role requires enough technical depth to communicate credibly with engineers and SecOps teams while translating their work into milestones, risks, dependencies, decisions, and executive-level reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise customer cybersecurity leaders on SecOps strategy, operating priorities, technology initiatives, and practical improvements.Translate cybersecurity needs into actionable scope, requirements, workstreams, milestones, dependencies, risks, owners, and implementation plans.
  • Lead cross-functional cybersecurity initiatives by coordinating security operations, engineering, application and infrastructure teams, vendors, and business stakeholders;
  • Facilitate working sessions, resolve dependencies, drive decisions, and maintain delivery discipline using tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Provide technical and advisory leadership across SecOps initiatives including security engineering, SIEM and security-data platforms, incident response, AI-defense, platform migrations, data onboarding and routing, integrations, detections/use cases, security analytics, SOAR, workflow orchestration, and automation.
  • Apply hands-on SecOps knowledge to evaluate technical approaches, challenge assumptions, identify gaps, assess cybersecurity tools and emerging technologies, and develop practical recommendations for selection, deployment, configuration, integration, and support models.
  • Define and communicate security performance, risks, and outcomes through metrics, Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), status reporting, decision documentation, and concise executive-ready communications that bridge technical teams and leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of relevant cybersecurity experience, including meaningful hands-on experience in Security Operations / SecOps, security engineering, architecture, implementation, or technical consulting.
  • Direct experience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Security Orchestration, Automation and Response (SOAR) and security-data platforms, particularly Splunk and/or Cribl, including data pipelines, onboarding, integrations, migrations, use-case development, or related delivery.
  • Strong understanding of modern cybersecurity operations, including security monitoring and detection, incident response, security engineering, security data, integrations, operational workflows, and SIEM concepts such as data collection, normalization and routing, detections/use cases, alerting, investigation, and reporting.
  • Experience leading technical cybersecurity initiatives or workstreams and independently translating broad or ambiguous technical objectives into actionable scope, requirements, milestones, dependencies, risks, owners, recommendations, and measurable outcomes.
  • Strong cybersecurity consulting and stakeholder leadership skills, including discovery, requirements gathering, facilitation, problem solving, executive communication, documentation, and the ability to translate effectively between technical teams and business leadership.
  • Experience working across multiple enterprise cybersecurity technologies and integrations, such as Splunk, Cribl, Microsoft Sentinel/Defender, CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Networks, ServiceNow, SOAR platforms, endpoint security, Jira, and Confluence, along with an understanding of cybersecurity governance, risk, and frameworks such as the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and NIST SP 800-53.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ServiceNow Security Operations and/or CMDB, particularly where security operations depend on asset, configuration, vulnerability, incident, or other security-related data.
  • Experience supporting regulated, critical-infrastructure, or other highly controlled cybersecurity environments, and developing executive security metrics, KRIs, dashboards, security architectures, operating models, or engineering support models.
  • Relevant cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, CompTIA Security+, GIAC, or vendor security/SIEM certifications. PMP, Agile, Scrum, or similar delivery certifications are beneficial but secondary to demonstrated cybersecurity consulting and delivery leadership.
