Job Description:

This position is responsible for inspecting laminate and compact sheets to identify, measure, and mark defects, and to determine material recoverability. When salvageable, the operator sets up tables, programs defects into the Defect ID system, and coordinates with the cutter to process cut-down tables. The role operates under the direction of the Team Lead/Supervisor. Perform other tasks as required. This is for day shift to include weekends. This is a grade 3 position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Load and unload laminate tables • Flip and Inspect laminate for defects.
• Determine if laminate is salvageable by cross-checking colors, patterns and defects against pattern chain and defects wall for reference.
• Check each sheet for breaks or rejects.
• Correctly measure and mark up with saw cut information.
• Place laminate that has passed inspection onto designated table(s)
• Place rejected laminate onto designated table(s)
• Enter rejected laminate information into system
• Band pallets when needed
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Set up tables for cut to size processing
• Move inspected material to staging area for Salvage saw
• Operate lifts when needed to move tables
• Operates manual saw equipment to cut and process salvage material and serves as a backup operator for Schilling and MJ saws within the Cut-to-Size department.
• Basic computer skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

• Knowledge of safety standards applicable to the work area,
• Ability to understand and follow instructions.
• Ability to learn and recognize colors and patterns and recognize defects in both.
• Ability to read a tape measure (to 16th).

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION: High School Graduate or GED High School Diploma or GED, or will accept one year of work history. EXPERIENCE: 2+ years

WORKING CONDITIONS

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking/pushing/climbing and lifting material or equipment of heavy weight (>50 lbs) Examples: grounds staff and EMS

ENVIRONMENT: Located in an indoor area with frequent exposure to mild physical discomfort from dust, fumes, temperature extremes, loud noises and bright lights. Examples: mail clerks, material handlers and food service workers
