REFUSE COLLECTOR

Job Summary:

The Refuse Collector accompanies the Refuse Truck Operator on a pre-determined route, ensuring that trash and materials are cleared from the community in a timely and orderly fashion.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

· None.

Duties/ Responsibilities:

· Accompanies Refuse Truck Operator along pre-determined route and schedule, collecting solid trash and waste materials.

· Collects refuse materials using manual or automated methods, dismounting and remounting trucks as needed.

· Notifies driver, dispatcher, or manager of delays, unsafe sites, accidents, breakdowns, extra trash, or other issues.

· Operates machinery to hoist or compress refuse.

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Ability to understand and follow directions.

· Ability to adhere to safety standards and guidelines.

Education and Experience:

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

· One year of experience preferred.

Requirements:

· Prolonged periods standing, walking, lifting, and throwing.

· Must be able to lift and carry at least 60 pounds at times.

· Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete the work.

· Ability to work outdoors in all-weather conditions.

· Must be able to work safely in a noisy environment with odors present.

· Valid Texas driver’s license.
