Accounting Solutions Group | Supervisor

Are you an experienced accounting professional who enjoys going beyond the numbers to help organizations make smarter financial decisions?

Wegner CPAs is looking for an experienced Controller to join our Accounting Solutions Group as a Supervisor, providing outsourced accounting and financial leadership to a diverse portfolio of non profit clients. This is a highly visible, client-facing role for someone who thrives on building relationships, analyzing financial information, managing risk, and serving as a trusted financial advisor.

As a Controller, you'll oversee the ongoing financial and accounting operations of assigned clients while partnering with their leadership teams, boards, finance committees, and other professional advisors. You'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping clients strengthen their financial operations, improve reporting, plan for the future, and make informed strategic decisions.

What You'll Do

Lead Client Financial Operations

Plan, direct, and coordinate accounting and financial operations for assigned clients.
Provide financial leadership and strategic guidance to client leadership teams.
Conduct monthly remote client meetings focused on financial analysis, performance, and strategic planning.
Review monthly financial statements, reports, and analysis prepared by Outsourced Accountants.
Serve as the primary liaison between clients and their other professional service providers.
Attend and present at client finance committee and board meetings.
Maintain oversight of client engagement teams and ensure high-quality, timely service delivery.

Drive Financial Planning & Analysis

Lead budgeting and forecasting activities, including cash flow forecasting.
Assist clients with the development and preparation of annual operating budgets.
Analyze financial performance, trends, profitability, and key business drivers.
Prepare complex Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and other management reporting.
Translate financial data into meaningful insights and actionable recommendations for clients.

Manage Risk & Strengthen Financial Controls

Review cash flow information and initiate approved client payments through Bill.com, maintaining appropriate cash controls.
Develop and maintain comprehensive internal controls designed to mitigate risk and improve the accuracy and reliability of financial reporting.
Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of client finance operations.
Oversee regulatory reporting, tax planning, and compliance activities.
Proactively identify and address financial or operational risks.

Be a Trusted Advisor

Manage unexpected and sometimes urgent client matters with professionalism and sound judgment.
Build strong, long-term relationships with client leadership and stakeholders.
Support business development and growth initiatives for the Accounting Solutions Group and Wegner CPAs.
Look for opportunities to add value and help clients strengthen their organizations.

What You Bring

5–7 years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, controllership, or a related role.
CPA or CMA certification preferred.
Experience in Non Profit Accounting
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, projections, and management reporting.
Working knowledge of short- and long-term budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and profitability analysis.
Strong leadership and relationship-building skills.
Excellent analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to consistently meet deadlines.
Ability to confidently communicate financial information to both financial and non-financial audiences.
A proactive, client-focused approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Why Wegner?
