JOB REQUIREMENTS: Architectural Designer / Architectural Drafter **Residential & Commercial Construction \| Direct Hire \| Full-Time** Whether your background is primarily residential, commercial, or a combination of both, we would like to hear about your experience. Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Architectural Designer / Drafter to join an established building and construction company. This position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of residential or commercial building projects, taking concepts and ideas from initial design through detailed construction documentation. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of architectural design principles, building layouts, construction methods, and the ability to translate project requirements into accurate, detailed drawings and plans. Depending on experience and the type of projects involved, responsibilities may include working directly with clients, builders, project managers, engineers, and other design professionals throughout the planning and design process. Key Responsibilities - Develop architectural drawings, floor plans, elevations, sections, and construction details. - Prepare and revise construction documents and permit-ready drawing packages. - Translate client concepts, specifications, and project requirements into functional designs. - Work with builders, contractors, engineers, and other professionals to coordinate project details. - Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, dimensions, and code compliance. - Make design revisions based on client feedback, project requirements, and construction considerations. - Assist with material selections, building layouts, and design specifications as needed. - Maintain organized project files, drawings, and documentation. - Ensure designs are practical, functional, and aligned with construction standards and project budgets. - Manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail. Qualifications & Experience - Previous experience in architectural design, architectural drafting, or building design. - Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, or other architectural design software. - Ability to interpret blueprints, construction drawings, specifications, and building plans. - Knowledge of residential and/or commercial construction methods and building materials. - Understanding of building codes, zoning requirements, and permitting processes. - Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills. - Ability to communicate effectively with clients, builders, and internal project teams. - Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment. Preferred Experience - Background working with a residential builder, commercial contractor, architectural firm, or design-build company. - Experience developing projects from conceptual design through construction documents. - Knowledge of Wisconsin building codes and permitting requirements. - Experience with Revit, AutoCAD Architecture, or similar design platforms. - Construction knowledge beyond the computer screen, including an understanding of how drawings translate into actual building projects.
