Paraprofessional (Long Term Substitute)

Wareham Middle School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paraprofessional to provide support to students during a leave of absence. This position plays an essential role in fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive educational environment that promotes student academic, social, emotional, and behavioral growth. The paraprofessional will work closely with classroom teachers, special education staff, related service providers, and administration to support student success throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide individualized academic, behavioral, communication, and social-emotional support throughout the school day. Assist the student in accessing and participating in the general education and/or special education environment. Support the development of appropriate communication, social, self-regulation, and problem-solving skills. Promote student independence while providing appropriate levels of support. Maintain a safe and supportive environment and respond appropriately to behavioral or emotional needs. Collect and communicate relevant behavioral, academic, and observational data as directed by the educational team. Encourage positive peer interactions and appropriate social engagement. Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions. Perform other duties as assigned by the building administration or supervising staff.

Requirements

The Long term substitute Paraprofessional will support a leave of absence from November 13, 2026, with an anticipated end date on December 22, 2026, Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 2:00 PM, when school is in session. Candidates must meet Highly Qualified regulations by having an Associate's Degree or higher, or successfully passing the ParaPro assessment exam.
