Join Vylor - Powering the Future of Agriculture
At Vylor, we’re advancing agriculture through breakthrough science - combining elite germplasm, cutting-edge biotech, and next-generation expertise in gene editing and molecular breeding. Our portfolio includes trusted industry brands like Pioneer®, Brevant®, and Hoegemeyer®, delivering performance farmers rely on.
Join us to help scale innovation globally and shape what’s next in crop science. Vylor is a global leader in advanced seed and genetics. For more than a century, we've advanced scientific discovery and breakthrough innovation to help farmers feed and fuel the world. Increasing populations, changing economies, and limited arable land are significant factors driving Vylor to use the broad application of plant science to improve the value generated from each field. The Pipeline Signal and Deployment (PS&D) Team, embedded within the Genome Center of Excellence, is seeking a highly motivated Genomics Data Analyst to deliver sequence-based molecular data that advances new products through our biotechnology trait development pipeline. In this role, you will evaluate next-generation sequencing data to confirm the identity and integrity of DNA constructs, characterize gene edits, and assess transgene insertions in plants. The data products you generate directly inform which edits and events advance in the pipeline, making accuracy, timeliness, and clear communication essential to success. The successful candidate will understand the unique objectives of a wide variety of early-stage trait development projects and ensure high-quality genomic data is delivered within expected timelines. The candidate will partner with colleagues across molecular biology, transformation, laboratory operations, bioinformatics, and regulatory functions to coordinate work activities and ensure both standard operating procedures and best practices are met. In addition, the candidate will contribute to the development of new tools, automation, and methods that increase data analysis efficiency, throughput, and quality.
Why join us? Your analyses will directly shape which next-generation crop innovations reach farmers around the world, and you will build cutting-edge genomics skills alongside a collaborative team of scientists.
What You’ll Do:
- Analyze next-generation sequencing data to deliver accurate, actionable data products for a wide variety of gene editing and transgenic trait development projects; make detailed observations and interpret complex results.
- Perform sequence verification of DNA constructs to confirm sequence identity and integrity prior to use in plant transformation.
- Characterize gene edits in plant samples, including identifying edit outcomes (e.g., insertions, deletions, substitutions), determining allele composition and zygosity, and detecting sequence changes.
- Characterize transgene insertions using sequencing-based methods, including determining insertion copy number, confirming insert integrity, identifying flanking genomic junctions, and detecting vector sequence.
- Apply established quality control criteria (e.g., read depth, coverage, sample identity) to assess data quality, flag anomalies, and determine when samples require reanalysis or retesting.
- Confirm that all prerequisite project steps are completed ahead of sample delivery to the sequencing lab to optimize project success and use of resources.
- Document analyses and maintain accurate, traceable records in information management systems in accordance with standard operating procedures and data integrity expectations.
- Provide clear summaries and reports to project, portfolio, and technical leaders, and communicate with colleagues both locally and globally to share and seek knowledge.
- Partner to provide troubleshooting and root cause analysis technical support as needed with a respectful, collaborative, and positive team spirit.
- Participate in new technology development and process improvement studies; activities may include experimental planning, evaluating new analysis tools, automating repetitive tasks, and testing associated information management systems.
- Manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projects to meet delivery timelines in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment.
- Follow company safety policies, protocols, and procedures, and ensure a safe working environment for self and team members.
What Skills You Need:
- Master’s degree in bioinformatics, genetics, molecular biology, plant science, biotechnology, or a related field. Bachelor's degree with 2-3 years' experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Working knowledge of DNA sequencing technologies, molecular biology fundamentals (e.g., PCR, plasmid/vector design), and plant transformation and gene editing methodologies (e.g., CRISPR-Cas).
- Hands-on experience analyzing sequence data, including aligning reads to reference sequences, identifying variants and indels, and interpreting sequence alignments.
- Experience with molecular characterization of gene-edited or transgenic events in crops.
- Proficiency with sequence analysis and visualization software (e.g., Geneious, Crispresso, or similar).
- Experience working in a high-throughput genotyping or sequencing environment.
- Experience with targeted sequencing approaches (e.g., amplicon sequencing, hybridization capture/enrichment) and with both short-read and long-read sequencing data.
- Proven ability to pay attention to detail, recognize data patterns, identify anomalies, and draw sound, evidence-based conclusions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical results to diverse audiences.
- Strong ability to organize, plan, and prioritize concurrent activities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to function both independently and as a respectful, collaborative team member.
- Proven ability to improve processes and innovate.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software; experience with information management systems (e.g., LIMS) is a plus.
- Experience working under quality or data integrity standards (e.g., GLP, ISO).
Please note there is no visa sponsorship available for this role.
