Full-Stack Engineer

VSG Recruitment is partnering with a fast-growing AI technology company to hire an exceptional Full Stack Engineer for its Toronto engineering team.

This is a hands-on role for an engineer with strong technical depth, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to own complex problems from initial design through production. You’ll build customer-facing software solutions while also contributing to the underlying platform used to develop and deploy them.

The company is rethinking how enterprise software is built by combining modern software engineering with AI to create purpose-built solutions faster and with significantly less complexity.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Build end-to-end software solutions: Design, develop, test, deploy, operate, and maintain production applications used by enterprise customers.
• Work across the full stack: Build backend services, APIs, data workflows, and modern frontend applications using technologies including Python, TypeScript, React, and AWS.
• Own problems from start to finish: Take responsibility for technical challenges from initial requirements and architecture through deployment, maintenance, and support.
• Build with AI: Explore how advances in AI and LLMs can improve both the products being developed and the engineering process itself.
• Solve complex customer problems: Work directly with stakeholders to understand ambiguous business requirements and translate them into well-engineered technical solutions.
• Contribute to the core platform: Help improve the internal software platform and tooling used to accelerate the development of customer solutions.
• Work across disciplines: Depending on the problem, contribute across software engineering, data engineering, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and AI/ML.
• Drive engineering quality: Help establish scalable engineering practices while maintaining a strong focus on reliability, maintainability, and performance.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Extensive professional experience in full-stack software development.
• Strong programming experience with Python and/or TypeScript.
• Experience building modern frontend applications with React.
• Strong understanding of data structures, APIs, system design, and software architecture.
• Hands-on experience building and deploying applications in AWS or similar cloud environments.
• Proven ability to take technical problems from concept through production deployment and ongoing operation.
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where requirements may initially be ambiguous.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to quickly learn unfamiliar technologies when needed.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable working directly with customers and translating business requirements into technical solutions.
• High degree of ownership, curiosity, and bias toward action.

NICE TO HAVE

Candidates will stand out with experience in one or more of the following:

• Data engineering, machine learning engineering, or data science.
• Building production applications that integrate LLMs or other AI models.
• Developing evaluations and monitoring for AI-powered systems.
• Fine-tuning, deploying, or operating machine learning models.
• Building or operating AI/ML infrastructure at scale.
• DevOps, security, or cloud infrastructure experience.
• Experience with technologies such as Docker, GitHub Actions, and AWS CDK.
• Experience designing and operating highly scalable production systems.

You’ll also be encouraged to actively use modern AI development tools and challenge traditional software engineering approaches as AI continues to change how software is designed, built, tested, and operated.

You’re a strong generalist engineer who enjoys being given a difficult problem rather than a detailed specification.

You can move comfortably between backend development, frontend applications, infrastructure, and data when the problem requires it. You care about engineering quality, but you also know when to move quickly and ship.

Most importantly, you’re someone who wants genuine ownership. You’re comfortable working directly with customers, making technical decisions, learning what you don’t know, and taking responsibility for getting a solution into production.
