Candidates will have the opportunity to participate in projects from planning, initial subsurface exploration, and through design and construction.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and project management opportunities will vary based on individual experience, qualifications, and interests. Responsibilities may include:

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee subsurface exploration programs, including soil borings, rock coring, and field investigations.
  • Evaluate subsurface conditions and perform geotechnical engineering analyses for foundations, retaining walls, slopes, pavements, and earthwork.
  • Prepare geotechnical engineering reports, technical recommendations, and construction-related documentation.
  • Provide engineering support during construction, including evaluation of soil conditions, foundation excavations, fill placement, and ground improvement.
  • Coordinate and review construction materials testing and special inspections efforts involving earthwork, concrete, masonry, and other types of construction.
  • Review laboratory and field testing results and construction documentation to evaluate compliance with project specifications and engineering recommendations.
  • Communicate with clients, contractors, design professionals, and project stakeholders.
  • Assist with project scheduling, proposals, budgets, and overall project management.
  • Provide technical oversight and training to engineers and engineering technicians.
  • Identify and evaluate unexpected subsurface or construction conditions and develop practical engineering solutions.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering which provides the educational foundation to begin the Professional Engineering licensure process.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • For entry-level and EIT applicants, a willingness to perform fieldwork, soil logging, and visit active construction sites.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred:

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with geotechnical investigations, engineering analyses, or construction monitoring and materials testing.
  • Familiarity with applicable ASTM standards, building codes, and construction specifications.
  • Experience preparing geotechnical engineering reports and recommendations.
  • Experience preparing special inspection reports.
