Housekeeper-General 1

The Housekeeper is responsible to maintain a clean, sanitary, comfortable, and tidy environment for a high net-worth private family estate. Role is Tuesday through Saturday, 1 pm – 9 pm, with occasional nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

• Responsibilities revolve around general maintenance, orderliness, and cleanliness of the estate.
• Perform a variety of cleaning activities such as:
• Sweep, scrub, mop, and polish floors.
• Vacuum/clean carpets, rugs, and upholstery.
• Dust and polish furniture and fittings.
• Clean metal fixtures and fittings.
• Empty and clean trash containers.
• Dispose of trash in a sanitary manner.
• Clean wash basins, mirrors, tubs, and showers.
• Wipe clean glass surfaces.
• Make beds and clean linens as required.
• Tidy rooms.
• Wash windows as scheduled.
• Sort, wash, load, and unload laundry.
• Iron and press clothing and linen.
• Wash dishes and clean kitchen according to agreed hygiene standards.
• Clean appliances and polish silverware.
• Change/replace lightbulbs.
• Ensure all rooms are cared for and inspected according to standards.
• Check to maintain adequate levels of groceries and household supplies.
• Answer telephone and take/relay messages.
• Climb multiple flights of stairs daily.
• Notify owner of any damages, deficits, and/or disturbances.
• Run errands for owner as needed; assist during estate events.
• Properly maintain all cleaning products, equipment, and tools.
• Understand the operations and limitations of the equipment; perform daily evaluations to ensure its safe and continual service; report any deficiencies when needed to fix issues.
• Understand and follow safety procedures.
• Perform projects and other duties as assigned.
• High School Diploma or its equivalent preferred.
• Ability to communicate and understand English and able to follow the precise directions of the estate owners.
• 4+ years experience working for a private estate; previous housekeeping experience with high profile family is required.
• Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation products, techniques, and methods; knowledge of cleaning sensitive materials.
• Working knowledge of operating cleaning equipment.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills; able to multi-task and meet deadlines.
• Excellent customer service skills and proven ability in follow-up commitments.
• Ability to understand and follow instruction; ability to carry out independent research; ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to prioritize, take initiative, and problem solve while maintaining attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and within a team with strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adjust to multiple demands and shifting priorities; ability to handle high net-worth family requests, demands, and needs; strong attention to confidentiality.
• Must be high energy, trustworthy, and reliable.
• Must be flexible with working schedule as some evenings and weekends are required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, kneel, walk, talk, see, hear, push, pull, climb, bend, and stoop. The employee frequently is required to stand, (for up to 8 eight hours), walk (occasionally on rough terrain/in varying weather conditions), climb, use manual dexterity to operate tools used in the course of work, hear sufficient to hear conversations in person, and via telephone and radio, and vision sufficient for distance sight and to read diagrams, computer screens, manual reports, rules, regulations, laws, and plans. The employee is occasionally required to reach, push, and pull with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Physical dexterity may involve stretching, proper placement of legs, and use of arms and hands in repetitive motions. The employee must be able to maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities occurring at the site, including the activities of other employees, and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment.
