Brief Job Description:

Purge Rite, acquired by Vertiv in December 2025, is a leading provider of mechanical flushing, purging, and filtration services for data centers and other mission-critical facilities. Its specialized fluid-management services - including high-velocity fluid-loop flushing to remove debris, purging to remove air and gas, and filling with clean fluid - are essential to commissioning and maintaining the clean, air-free coolant loops that liquid-cooled, high-density and AI data centers depend on for thermal efficiency, reliability, and uptime.

Purge Rite delivers project-based services (including offerings such as Vertiv™ PurgeRite™ NearZero™ closed-loop flushing) across data center as well as commercial and industrial markets, with strong relationships across hyperscalers and Tier 1 colocation providers. Because work is executed as discrete customer projects, disciplined project accounting, a controlled monthly close, and rigorous cost and margin control are central to the finance and accounting function.

Position Summary

The Finance and Accounting Sr. Manager is the senior finance leader resident in the Purge Rite business and is accountable for the complete finance and accounting function - financial planning and analysis, accounting and controllership, project accounting and revenue recognition, and the transactional teams that support them. The role owns the integrity of Purge Rite’s financial results, the monthly close and the reporting package delivered to the parent company, and the forecasting, cost discipline, and margin control that drive profitability in a fast-growing, project-based business. It serves as the principal financial business partner to the Purge Rite General Manager.

This position leads a function of approximately 20 professionals across FP&A, accounting, project accounting (which includes accounts receivable), accounts payable, and payroll. Direct reports include the Controller, the Accounting Manager, the Project Accounting Manager, and the Senior FP&A Analyst. The role will focus on implementing processes as the business scales and integrates into Vertiv systems and standards.

Key Responsibilities

A. Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

  • Own 100% of the FP&A activities for the Purge Rite business, ensuring accurate, timely, and decision-useful financial planning and reporting.
  • Prepare and manage the monthly forecast and the annual forecast / operating plan (budget), including revenue, cost, margin, and headcount assumptions.
  • Lead the monthly review of financial results, analyzing actuals against forecast, budget, and prior periods, and clearly explaining variances and their drivers. Provide key insights and recommendations to drive delivery to key financial targets.
  • Own capital expenditure (capex) control and forecasting, including tracking spend against plan, evaluating requests, and supporting capital investment decisions for service equipment.
  • Track and report productivity metrics, identifying efficiency opportunities and quantifying savings initiatives.
  • Lead profitability analysis with a primary focus on variable cost margins, providing visibility into the levers that drive service-line and project profitability.
  • Develop management reporting, KPIs, and dashboards that provide transparency into performance and support data-driven decisions.
  • Own cash flow forecasting and working capital planning - receivables, payables, and the timing of capital spend - and coordinate funding requirements with the parent company.
  • Build and maintain the analytical tools the business runs on: pricing and bid support, equipment utilization and fleet economics, service-line profitability, margin mix bridges and scenario analysis for growth decisions.

B. Accounting, Close & Controllership

  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close for Purge Rite, delivering complete and accurate results on the parent company’s reporting calendar.
  • Own the general ledger - chart of accounts, journal entry review, account reconciliations, and documented support behind every material balance.
  • Apply US GAAP for the business, including revenue recognition on project work, accruals and reserves, leases, and purchase accounting matters arising from potential M&A activities.
  • Own fixed asset accounting for a large and growing service equipment fleet - capitalization policy, depreciation, disposals and physical verification.
  • Own the balance sheet - cash, receivables, accrued liabilities, prepaids, and working capital accounts - and the reconciliation discipline behind it.
  • Maintain and strengthen the internal control environment, including SOX-aligned controls, segregation of duties, and approval authority thresholds.
  • Document accounting practices for the business so results are repeatable, explainable, and auditable.

C. Project Accounting & Order-to-Cash

This business records customer contracts as projects in the system. The role owns project accounting and order-to-cash across the full project lifecycle:

  • Project setup: Oversight of the approval of project creation in the system upon receipt of customer contracts, ensuring accurate structure, scope, and financial parameters.
  • Cost integrity: Monitor project cost allocation for accuracy and completeness, proactively identifying and correcting mischarges - for example, costs entered by service technicians against the wrong project - to safeguard the integrity of project financials.
  • Customer invoicing: Ensure timely and accurate invoicing of customers in accordance with contract terms and project milestones. Oversee processing of applicable pay applications and lien waivers, as well as ensure compliance with payroll and other project onboarding and reporting requirements (COIs, certified payroll requirements, etc.)
  • Collections: Perform and oversee the related collections activities, managing accounts receivable and days-sales-outstanding (DSO) performance.
  • Margin monitoring: Monitor project costs, margins, and profitability throughout the project lifecycle, flagging risks and opportunities to the business, working closely with the Project Management and Field Operations teams
  • Revenue and WIP integrity: Own revenue recognition following the percentage of completion or appropriate GAAP related treatment, including intercompany revenue, on project work so cost and revenue are recorded in the correct period.
  • Receivables performance: Own accounts receivable aging and DSO targets, escalate at-risk balances to the business leader and the commercial team, and own customer credit decisions.
  • Change orders and contract terms: Ensure scope changes, change orders, and contract billing terms are reflected in project financials and billed.

D. Accounts Payable, Payroll & Transactional Operations

  • Accounts payable: Oversee vendor setup and validation, invoice processing and coding accuracy, payment runs, and vendor escalations.
  • Payroll: Oversee payroll processing and payroll accounting for a large field workforce including overtime, per diem, and multi-state considerations in partnership with HR and external providers.
  • Card, travel, and expense: Own corporate card, travel, and expense programs, including policy, compliance, and reporting.
  • Treasury and cash: Manage cash positioning and disbursement for the business and coordinate funding with the parent company.
  • Process and automation: Drive standardization and automation across transactional processes so the cost of the finance function does not scale with transaction volume.

E. Tax, Audit & Compliance

  • Own the external audit for the business - serve as primary point of contact, own the request list, and deliver schedules and support on time.
  • Coordinate income tax provision and compliance with the parent’s tax function and external advisors, including ASC 740 support.
  • Own indirect and local tax compliance - sales and use tax, property tax, and state and local registrations and filings across every jurisdiction the business operates in.
  • Own finance-side business compliance supporting field operations, including licensing, certificates of insurance, and customer compliance documentation.

F. Parent Company Reporting & Integration

  • Deliver the monthly and quarterly reporting package to the parent company, including results, forecast, variance commentary, and supporting schedules, on the parent’s calendar.
  • Own intercompany accounting and reconciliation and supply consolidation inputs to the parent’s corporate accounting team.
  • Lead the finance and accounting workstream of post-acquisition integration - chart of accounts mapping, ERP migration, policy alignment, and adoption of parent reporting standards and controls.
  • Translate a project-based service business into the parent’s reporting framework, responding to corporate finance requests without losing the operating detail the business runs on.

G. Business Partnering & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as a strong business partner to the Purge Rite General Manager, providing financial insight, challenge, and support for operational and commercial decisions.
  • Serve as the principal financial voice in commercial decisions - pricing, bid review, contract and payment terms, and customer credit.
  • Give operations leadership cost visibility at field labor, equipment, and project level, and support decisions on fleet deployment, maintenance, and capital investment.
  • Partner with operations, sales, and project management teams to align financial and operational performance.
  • Partner with HR on headcount planning, payroll accuracy, and labor cost reporting, and with IT on finance systems, data integrity, and reporting infrastructure.

H. Leadership, Team Development & Resource Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop a function of approximately 20 across FP&A, accounting, project accounting, accounts payable, and payroll, including managers who lead teams of their own.
  • Manage outside finance resources and the spend attached to them - outsourced accounting and FP&A providers, contract staffing, and professional service firms - holding each to defined scope, cost, and quality.
  • Set clear goals and priorities, manage performance, and build a high-performing, accountable, and collaborative finance team.
  • Drive continuous improvement, standardization, and automation across FP&A and project administration processes, particularly as the business integrates into Vertiv systems and standards.
  • Build succession depth and cross-training across the function so no critical process depends on a single individual.

I. ERP/Systems Partner

  • Ensure integrity of ERP financial information as source of truth.
  • Be a key partner in integration efforts into parent company ERP and other future state integrations of related systems, including payroll and project related information.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA strongly preferred; MBA or CMA a plus.

Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience spanning both FP&A and controllership / accounting operations, with 5+ years in people leadership, including experience leading other managers.
  • Experience owning a full close cycle and a complete set of financial statements, including the balance sheet, for a company or business unit.
  • Experience in a project-based, services, engineering, or construction environment including project accounting and percentage-of-completion or milestone billing.
  • Demonstrated experience owning forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, capex, fixed asset accounting, and margin/profitability analysis.
  • Experience owning order-to-cash and procure-to-pay end to end - project setup, cost control, customer invoicing, collections, accounts payable, and payroll oversight.
  • Experience managing the external audit and coordinating income tax provision, sales and use tax, and property tax with outside advisors.
  • Experience in a subsidiary, division, or carve-out reporting to a larger parent - intercompany accounting, consolidation reporting, and system and policy integration; public company or SOX environment preferred.
  • Experience scaling a finance organization through rapid growth

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong working command of US GAAP as it applies to project-based revenue, accruals and reserves, and fixed assets.
  • Strong command of financial modeling, variable-cost margin analysis, and management reporting.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, NetSuite) and advanced Excel; experience with BI/reporting tools and with ERP implementation or migration.
  • Excellent business-partnering, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage both business leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • High attention to detail, strong controls mindset, and the ability to safeguard the accuracy of project financials.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth, post-acquisition integration environment.
  • Comfortable operating at both altitudes: setting policy and direction, and going into transaction-level detail when the answer is not there.
