Lead Developer Enablement Engineer (Apple Infrastructure)

Job Summary

Vertiv is seeking a Lead Developer Enablement Engineer (Apple Infrastructure) to architect, deploy, and govern secure, enterprise-grade Apple infrastructure. This role is responsible for transforming Vertiv's Apple environment into a streamlined, secure ecosystem by implementing centralized cloud-native Mobile Device Management (MDM) and automated zero-touch enrollment. The engineer will establish critical security standards while ensuring compliance and intellectual property protection across engineering workstations. This role directly supports Vertiv’s Operational Excellence and Customer Focus strategic priorities by eliminating operational bottlenecks and establishing a reproducible, high-performance environment for developers. As a technical lead, this role oversees the strategic rollout of Apple infrastructure across the organization, managing security policies, deployment workflows, and long-term device lifecycle health. The Engineer will leverage modern configuration-as-code practices to ensure uniform environment standards, reducing provisioning time and driving consistency across global engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apple Infrastructure Architecture: Architect and deploy a centralized, enterprise-grade Apple infrastructure, including the selection and implementation of a cloud-native MDM solution integrated with Apple Business Manager (ABM) and Automated Device Enrollment (ADE).
  • Zero-Touch Provisioning: Design and implement automated, zero-touch deployment workflows to streamline device onboarding, leveraging configuration-as-code practices to ensure uniform environment standards for developers.
  • Security & Compliance Governance: Establish rigorous security standards, including automated FileVault encryption key escrow, hardware-backed certificate management, and real-time compliance enforcement via Declarative Device Management (DDM).
  • Developer Productivity Optimization: Partner with engineering teams to optimize local development environments, including Xcode configuration, CI/CD pipeline integration, and automated build signing to reduce provisioning time and eliminate operational bottlenecks.
  • Operational Excellence & Support: Oversee end-to-end management of Apple endpoints, establishing monitoring, logging, and tier 2/3 escalation procedures to resolve technical blockers and maintain long-term device lifecycle health.
  • Vendor & Stakeholder Engagement: Manage primary MDM vendor relationships and collaborate with IT Security, Compliance, and leadership to ensure infrastructure strategy aligns with enterprise goals and security requirements.
