Original job description

When you join Verizon You want more out of a career. A place to share your ideas freely - even if they’re daring or different. Where the true you can learn, grow, and thrive. At Verizon, we power and empower how people live, work and play by connecting them to what brings them joy. We do what we love - driving innovation, creativity, and impact in the world. Our V Team is a community of people who anticipate, lead, and believe that listening is where learning begins. In crisis and in celebration, we come together - lifting our communities and building trust in how we show up, everywhere & always. Want in? Join the #VTeamLife.

What you’ll be doing

You will lead the strategic direction and execution of our vendor solution curriculum portfolio, orchestrating a high-performing design team that blends human instructional expertise with agent-augmented methodologies. You will evolve our curriculum strategy from traditional delivery models to an agentic operating model, fostering a "quality-by-design" culture. This is a leadership role focused on driving team performance, scaling our talent operations, and ensuring our curriculum remains agile, effective, and aligned with business outcomes.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Leading a team responsible for sourcing and managing external training vendor relationships, navigating contract negotiations, optimizing enterprise training budgets and credit balances, and administering the Vendor Catalog within VTeam Central.
  • Guiding team members in consulting with business leaders to identify performance gaps, fulfill technical training needs through third-party vendors, and rigorously evaluate the learning effectiveness and business impact of these external programs.
  • Pivoting the team from a FIFO (First-In, First-Out) model to a strategic, data-informed prioritization framework, using learning data insights and performance signals to validate needs and sequence work.
  • Integrating data privacy protocols and AI ethics directly into the design process to ensure quality, establish strict hallucination-reduction guardrails, and protect corporate intellectual property.
  • Acting as a strategic advisor, connecting strategies to tangible outcomes by measuring the speed-to-market, cost-reduction, and performance impacts of our learning architectures.
  • Leading, coaching, and empowering curriculum designers to integrate GenAI and agent-assisted tools into their development workflows without sacrificing instructional integrity.
  • Translating functional plans into operational processes and guides execution. Receiving broad guidance.
  • Acting as an advisor and guides others in resolving complex issues.
  • Understanding and working on significantly more complex issues requiring the analysis and in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
  • Developing resolutions that require the frequent use of creativity. Creating methods and procedures. Exercising independent judgment and adapting complex techniques for obtaining results.

In this remote role, you'll work from home with occasional in-person trainings and meetings.

What we’re looking for…

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
  • Current HR and/or Learning & Development experience.
  • Three or more years of experience in a people leadership role.
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree.
  • Three or more years of experience in a leadership role managing instructional design and/or vendor sourcing teams.
  • Vendor management experience.
  • Experience with using and guiding others to use AI tools (e.g., GenAI for drafting, agent-assisted practice labs) to drive efficiency and quality.
  • Strong change management skills with the ability to inspire, energize, and guide teams through disruptive technological transformations.
  • High executive presence with the ability to frame the strategic value of an "Agentic Operating Model" to non-technical stakeholders and translate business goals into team objectives.
  • Proven ability to balance speed and scale with instructional rigor, ensuring that rapid agent-enabled content production maintains the highest standards of safety and compliance.

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.

Where you’ll be working
