Product Manager

About Vehlo

We started Vehlo in 2019 with a simple goal: to be the industry’s favorite provider of repair shop technology.

Across every part of the auto repair industry, Vehlo is igniting vehicle service success with software and financial solutions that unlock your potential. Our founder-led products power the entire service lane experience and keep customers coming back with streamlined tools that help you handle communication, workflow automation, touchless payments, valet pickup, and much more. We’re out to simplify the customer journey from start to finish and give power back to the people under the hood, making their jobs easier and your shop more profitable - just ask our over 30,000 customers, who generate more than 50M annual repair orders. At Vehlo, our only purpose is your success, and together, we’re reaching your goals faster than ever.

Being a Veep comes with more than a comprehensive benefits package - our biggest benefit is opportunity: Opportunity to make an impact, opportunity for growth, and opportunity for recognition and rewards. This is not a mega-corporation where you wonder what people are doing all day - every Veep is moving the ball forward day in, day out for our customers or for each other.

About this role

This role is a dedicated role in our Shop-Ware product. You are Shop-Ware's only product manager, and Shop-Ware is your only product. You will report to the Principal Product Manager for our Shop Management Suite and work daily with Shop-Ware's engineering team. You will also work closely with onboarding, support, customer success, sales and marketing.

What You’ll Do:

• The roadmap, end to end. You decide what earns a place in the product and what doesn't, and you can explain why to a shop owner, a seller and an engineer in the same week. You keep the roadmap current and honest. When requests outnumber capacity, which they always will, you make the trade-offs explicit.

• Workflow and information architecture. You know how a repair order moves through a shop, from estimate and authorization through parts, labor, inspection, invoice and payment. You also know where Shop-Ware helps that flow and where it gets in the way. Plenty of PMs can ship features. Fewer can restructure a mature workflow product so it gets simpler as it grows.

• Multi-location capability, as a layer on the core rather than a fork of it. You own the next stages of our MSO capability: permissions and role inheritance, cross-store data and inventory, corporate-level views, and moving existing single-store customers to a multi-store model without disrupting them. You plan for migration and adoption risk up front, not as an implementation detail.

• Pricing intelligence. Shop-Ware includes an AI-assisted parts pricing matrix that helps shops price for profitability. You own making it trustworthy: what it takes to activate, how a shop sees the value it delivered, and how an owner audits overrides made at the counter.

• Integrations as product. Parts catalogs and ordering, payments, vehicle data and API partners are core to how Shop-Ware works. You own the in-product experience of these integrations and the trade-offs between them. You do this in close partnership with the PM who owns our API program and analytics suite.

• Customer discovery. Every month you spend real time with service advisors, technicians and owners, mostly over video and screen share, watching how they actually work. You build job maps from what you see and bring back observations that change decisions. You also work with our customer advisory board and Shop-Ware customer office hours.

• The product practice. You run backlog refinement, release readiness, stakeholder roadmap reviews, and documentation and enablement for the teams who sell and support Shop-Ware. We don't have a large process organization, so your specs and acceptance criteria need to be clear enough that engineering builds the right thing without daily rescue. Ceremonies are part of the job, not the job. Most of your time goes to discovery and strategy.

Qualifications

What You’ll Need:

  • 5+ years in product management, including full ownership of a core product. That means more than a feature area or a squad's backlog inside someone else's product. You were the accountable PM for a whole product customers run their business on, and you shipped it. It could be scheduling, point of sale, job management, field service, or anything where a confusing change shows up the same day as an angry phone call. You know the difference between a feature customers try and a workflow they depend on.
  • Multi-location experience. You have designed or shipped hierarchy, permissions, role inheritance or cross-location capability. You have also moved existing single-location customers onto it without losing them. After full product ownership, this carries the most weight. Many candidates have built for small businesses or for enterprises. Far fewer have made one product serve both without forking it.
  • A domain learned from customers. Automotive experience helps, but it isn't required. That said, insight into the small business owner-operator mindset and willingness to put the work in to learn a new space quickly is critical. We want evidence that you became the most knowledgeable person in the room about how a customer's business runs, and that you got there by spending time with customers and watching them work rather than reading about it.
  • Outcomes, not output. You can name a metric you moved (adoption, retention, expansion, support volume, time to value). You can also name a feature you sunset and explain why.
  • Technical fluency. You don't write production code. You can read a schema, reason about how data flows between systems, work through an integration contract with engineers, and tell when an estimate or a design is wrong.

• Self-direction. You set direction, keep a team pointed at it, and push back on the direction you were handed when it's wrong, without needing week-to-week steering.

• Hands-on and AI-forward. You prototype, pull your own data, and use AI tools to write, research and analyze faster. Experience shipping AI-assisted features to customers, and handling the cases where the model was wrong in front of them, is a strong plus.

Preferred Qualifications: (Optional)

• Experience shipping AI-driven product surfaces to customers, including how you handled accuracy, evaluation, user trust, and being wrong in front of a customer. Extra points if you led consumption-based pricing and COGS management.

• Other Eexperience that helps: vertical or SMB SaaS; dealer service, fleet or field-service software; parts catalog, pricing or procurement workflows; embedded payments; partner and integration ecosystems; and lean engineering teams that include contract developers.
