OVERVIEW

Veeco needs consistent, trusted people support across Somerset, NJ, and Plainview, NY, as manufacturing and engineering teams deliver semiconductor equipment for fast-moving markets. As an HR Business Partner, you will resolve employee and manager needs, coordinate timely follow-through on employee relations matters, and keep people programs moving across both sites. Your work will strengthen the workforce behind Veeco technologies used in advanced semiconductor devices, including the LUMINA+ metal organic chemical vapor deposition platform for indium phosphide lasers used in artificial intelligence data centers. Working closely with two Senior Human Resource Business Partners and the Senior Director of Human Resources, you will build broad experience in employee relations, employment practices, talent programs, engagement, and HR operations while shaping a responsive employee experience.

This is an onsite position in our Somerset, NJ, location. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide reliable, day-to-day HR guidance to managers and employees across Somerset and Plainview, resolving routine questions promptly and routing complex matters to the appropriate senior HR leader.
  • Move employee relations matters toward timely, well-documented resolution by gathering facts, organizing records, preparing case summaries, and coordinating follow-up on performance, attendance, conduct, and workplace concerns.
  • Maintain consistent site practices by applying Veeco policy and identifying potential issues under federal, New Jersey, New York, and local employment requirements before they create employee or business risk.
  • Deliver talent programs across both sites with Talent Acquisition and Learning and Development by coordinating milestones, tracking completion, and turning participant feedback into practical improvements.
  • Create employee engagement and communication activities that connect Veeco’s Core Values with employees across functions, locations, and work schedules.
  • Improve consistency across Veeco locations by documenting effective practices, coordinating shared HR processes, and partnering with HR colleagues at other sites.
  • Protect decision quality and employee trust by maintaining accurate, timely employee records and HR system data.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or a related field and two or more years of professional HR experience in an HR Generalist, HR Business Partner, or comparable employee-facing role. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered. Experience supporting both salaried, exempt employees and hourly, non-exempt employees is a must.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Working knowledge of federal, New Jersey, and New York employment requirements, including wage and hour rules that affect hourly employees is a plus.
  • Experience using an enterprise resource planning or human resources information system such as SAP or Workday.
  • Sound judgment in resolving routine matters independently and escalating complex, sensitive, or higher-risk concerns early.
  • Ability to address difficult issues directly and give managers clear, practical guidance with tact and respect.
  • Discretion in handling confidential employee information and sensitive workplace matters.
  • Skill in explaining policy in understandable language to employees.
