Staff Accountant

Staff Accountant Position Summary The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with month-end and year-end close activities. This role works closely with the accounting team to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, account reconciliations, and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries
• Perform bank, balance sheet, and general ledger account reconciliations
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
• Analyze financial data and investigate discrepancies
• Support financial statement preparation and reporting
• Reconcile AP and AR subledgers to the general ledger
• Assist with audits and provide requested documentation
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and special projects as needed
• Participate in process improvements and internal control initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 1-3 years of accounting experience preferred
• Understanding of general ledger accounting, journal entries, and reconciliations
• Knowledge of month-end close processes
• Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting software/ERP systems
• Working knowledge of GAAP
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Skills

• Experience with financial reporting and account analysis
• ERP experience (SAP, NetSuite, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.)
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments
