Original job description

Accounting Manager

Our client, a publicly traded technology company, is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee fixed asset and infrastructure-related accounting while supporting broader close and reporting activities.

Location:

San Francisco, CA. This role is hybrid, with in-office expectations of 1 to 2 days per week.

Job Description:

This highly visible role will partner with FP&A, Supply Chain, Engineering, Tax, Legal, and other teams to ensure accurate accounting for complex capital investments. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with effective project leadership, cross-functional communication, and a process-improvement mindset. This position also offers meaningful opportunities for professional development and advancement as the accounting organization continues to evolve.

Responsibilities:

Lead accounting for fixed assets, infrastructure investments, and related cost-of-revenue activities
Oversee monthly close deliverables for assigned areas, including journal entries, reconciliations, account reviews, and variance analyses
Ensure accounting records and financial reporting comply with U.S. GAAP, internal policies, and applicable control requirements
Analyze balance sheet and income statement activity, investigate discrepancies, and recommend corrective actions
Partner with FP&A, Supply Chain, Engineering, Tax, Legal, and other stakeholders to support accurate accounting and timely reporting
Evaluate the control implications of process and system changes and maintain related documentation
Support external reporting activities, footnote preparation, accounting policy reviews, and technical analyses for assigned areas
Manage accounting workflows, reporting structures, issue resolution, and cross-functional deliverables
Identify and implement improvements to close processes, accounting workflows, systems, and reporting efficiency
Evaluate automation and emerging technology solutions that can improve accounting processes without compromising accuracy or controls

Requirements:

Progressive accounting experience with significant responsibility for fixed assets, capital expenditures, or infrastructure accounting
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal-use software accounting, financial close, reconciliations, and internal controls
Experience with ERP and close-management systems, along with strong spreadsheet and data-analysis capabilities
Demonstrated ability to lead projects, improve processes, and collaborate effectively across technical and operational teams
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills; CPA and public accounting experience preferred

Compensation:

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco by Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors, including but not limited to:

The individual’s skill sets, experience, and training;
Licensure and certifications;
Office location and other geographic considerations;
Other business and organizational needs.

With that said, as required by local law in geographies that require salary range disclosure, Vaco by Highspring notes that the salary range for the role is noted in this job posting. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
