Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

As a Senior Accounting Associate, you will serve as a senior-level individual contributor responsible for ensuring accurate and timely project cost accounting for U.S. government contracting operations. Working independently with limited supervision, you will perform advanced accounting functions, including journal entries, account reconciliations, billing support, financial reporting, and audit preparation. In this role, you will research and resolve complex accounting issues, collaborate closely with program finance and accounting teams, and help maintain complete, compliant, and reliable financial records. You will also provide guidance and knowledge sharing to team members, contribute to process improvements, and support the organization's commitment to financial accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence. Please note this is a non-exempt hourly paid position without direct supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Month end close and journal entries
  • Independently prepare, enter, validate, and troubleshoot recurring and nonrecurring journal entries. Maintain complete supporting documentation and execute assigned close activities in accordance with established deadlines, company policy, and U.S. GAAP.
  • Account reconciliations and analysis
  • Prepare and review complex monthly account reconciliations and supporting schedules. Investigate variances, aging items, system-interface issues, and data inconsistencies; document conclusions; recommend corrective action; and coordinate timely resolution.
  • Project cost and billing support
  • Compile, analyze, and validate labor, indirect cost, cost allocation, and other supporting data used for customer invoices and contract reporting. Research and resolve issues involving burdens, organizational structures, project and account coding, revenue calculations, billing calculations, and related system configuration.
  • Financial and contract reporting
  • Prepare recurring close reports, invoice support, and contract deliverables, including applicable CDRL reporting. Perform detailed quality reviews for completeness, accuracy, consistency, and compliance before submission.
  • Compliance and audit support
  • Apply working knowledge of Cost Accounting Standards, internal controls, and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements to assigned activities. Prepare audit-ready support, explain transactions and conclusions, and respond to DCAA and internal and external audit requests
  • Process expertise and team support
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for established cost-accounting processes and systems. Provide peer guidance and training, maintain process documentation and checklists, identify opportunities to improve accuracy and efficiency, and assist with testing and implementation of process or system changes.
  • Support the Cost Accounting Manager and accounting leadership with special projects, priority research, and other duties within the scope and level of the role.
