Role Overview

The Associate Transmission Line Engineer supports the design, analysis, and execution of overhead transmission line projects for utility and infrastructure clients. This role contributes to all phases of project delivery, including engineering design, field investigations, cost estimating, construction support, and client coordination. Working closely with senior engineers, project managers, clients, and cross-functional teams, the Associate Transmission Line Engineer develops reliable, cost-effective solutions that meet project requirements and industry standards. Through strong technical capabilities, collaboration, and a commitment to safety, this position plays a key role in delivering critical transmission infrastructure projects that strengthen and improve the electric grid.

How you will make an impact

  • Develop transmission line designs and engineering analyses utilizing PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE software for new and existing utility transmission facilities.
  • Conduct site visits, line inspections, route evaluations, and field assessments to gather data, identify design constraints, and support project development.
  • Prepare engineering deliverables including design packages, line studies, construction drawings, material specifications, pole orders, cost estimates, and as-built documentation.
  • Coordinate with construction, environmental, permitting, real estate, geotechnical, and utility stakeholders to support successful project execution.
  • Support project planning, proposal development, budgeting, scheduling, and client communications throughout all phases of project delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and project partners while providing responsive technical support and exceptional customer service.

What you will bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in transmission line design, engineering, or related utility infrastructure projects.
  • Strong proficiency with PLS-CADD and other PLS software applications, including PLS-POLE; experience with PLS-TOWER is a plus.
  • Knowledge of transmission line design principles, utility construction practices, engineering standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, project teams, and external stakeholders.
  • Strong commitment to safety, customer service, problem-solving, and delivering high-quality engineering solutions.

Work Environment & Preferences

  • Work Model: Hybrid or Remote, depending on project needs and location. This role combines engineering design work with periodic field visits and client engagement activities.
  • Preferred Schedule: Full-time position operating primarily during standard business hours, Monday through Friday. Flexibility may be required to support project deadlines, field investigations, site visits, client meetings, and construction coordination activities.
  • Travel Requirements: Regular travel within the assigned region may be required for site visits, field assessments, client meetings, and construction support activities. Must be comfortable entering transmission line rights-of-way (ROWs) and active construction sites while utilizing appropriate training and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work in both office and field environments. Field work may require walking long distances across uneven terrain, traversing transmission line corridors, climbing slopes, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
