About Upstart
At Upstart, we’re united by a mission that matters: to radically reduce the cost and complexity of borrowing for all Americans. Every day, we bring creativity, experimentation, and advanced AI to reshape access to credit, helping millions move forward financially with clarity and confidence.
As the leading AI lending marketplace, we partner with banks and credit unions to expand access to affordable credit through technology that’s both radically intelligent and deeply human. Our platform runs over one million predictions per borrower using more than 3,000 signals, powering smarter, fairer decisions for millions of customers. But the numbers only hint at the impact. Every idea, every voice, and every contribution moves us closer to a world where credit never stands between people and their financial progress.
We’re proudly digital-first, giving most Upstarters the flexibility to do their best work from wherever they thrive, alongside teammates across 80+ cities in the US and Canada. Digital-first doesn’t mean distant. We’re intentional about in-person connection through team onsites, planning sessions, and moments that spark creativity and trust. And whether you choose to work primarily from home or collaborate in-person from one of our offices in Columbus, Austin, the Bay Area, or New York City, you’ll have the support to work in the way that works best for you.
If you’re energized by tackling meaningful problems, excited to innovate with purpose, and motivated by work that truly matters, we’d love to hear from you.
The Team:
Upstart’s Marketing Platform team builds the tools, integrations, and measurement capabilities behind our owned and paid marketing channels: Lifecycle (email, push, and SMS), Digital, Direct Mail, and Affiliate Partnerships. Our goal is to increase borrower originations while keeping customer acquisition costs low.
As a Senior Product Manager, Marketing Platform, you will build capabilities that fundamentally change how Upstart captures and converts borrower demand. You’ll partner with the Marketing Platform team to shape this vision and own the roadmap and execution – using technology and AI to help marketers predict customer response, coordinate audiences and channels where it improves results, and launch campaigns faster. You’ll unlock more value from our existing third-party integrations, vendors, and data sources while addressing immediate channel needs, connecting today’s investments to a more effective marketing platform.
How you’ll make an impact
- Manage the Marketing Platform roadmap. Translate the platform vision and immediate-term channel needs into prioritized investments that improve how Upstart identifies, reaches, and converts prospective borrowers.
- Make campaign execution faster and more self-service. Understand how marketers work, identify bottlenecks, and build tools and integrations that reduce manual handoffs and dependence on technical teams.
- Build predictive and AI-assisted capabilities. Partner with Engineering, Analytics, and Machine Learning to predict customer response and help marketers select audiences, recommend creative, and determine when and how to reach customers.
- Unlock the value of existing technology and data. Connect and extend our third-party integrations, vendors, and data sources to improve targeting, automate workflows, and get more from capabilities we already have.
- Improve measurement and deliver profitable growth. Strengthen attribution, reporting reliability, and visibility into cross-channel acquisition costs and incrementality. Prioritize and evaluate investments by their contribution to new borrower originations, acquisition efficiency, and campaign execution speed, while balancing reliability, scalability, and compliance.
Minimum Qualifications
- 6+ years of product management experience, including ownership of internal platforms, integrations, or tools supporting marketing, partnerships, or operations.
- Demonstrated ability to turn stakeholder needs and workflow problems into a clear roadmap and deliver solutions with Engineering and other cross-functional partners.
- Ability to define success metrics, assess business impact, and use data to prioritize competing investments.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to align stakeholders from individual contributors to senior leaders and influence decisions without direct authority.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building marketing technology for one or more of the following: Lifecycle, Digital, Direct Mail, or Affiliates and Partnerships.
- Experience with audience management, campaign automation, attribution, or incrementality measurement.
- Experience connecting systems and workflows across marketing channels.
- Experience applying AI or machine learning to workflows or business decisions.
- Experience balancing speed, compliance, and scalability in financial services or another regulated industry.
