The Registered Nurse Pathways Trainee position is an entry level position that facilities the team members with access to a Registered Nurse program through Madison College, supported by UnityPoint Health - Meriter. Trainees will attend classes at Madison College and work 8 hours per week at UnityPoint Health - Meriter in a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) position. The trainee will receive practical work experience in a CNA role that utilizes concepts learned in class to keep the trainees engaged and ease their transition to a fast-paced hospital environment.

The Spring 2027 Application will be open on November 1, 2026.

The Cohort will follow the schedule below:

• New Team Member Orientation on Monday, January 4th 2027.
• Patient Care Orientation on January 5th through January 8th.
• Additional Training from January 11th through January 15th.

Qualifications:

• Enrolled in Madison College (MATC) Associate Degree Nursing Program (First Semester starting January 2027)
• Certified Nursing Assistant Certification in state of WI

Is there a cost?

Nurse Trainee Pathways position includes the following:

• Program tuition
• Compensation provided for student supplemental classroom hours (24 hours a week).
• Flexible schedule and work requirements that are feasible while in school (8 hours a week)
• Qualifies for benefits within UPH-Meriter at 0.6FTE. Will work in a CNA position 0.5-0.8FTE role June 2027-August 2027 and June 2028-August 2028. Student supplemental hours will not be paid during the months of June through August.
• Full-time employment in a 0.8FTE+ RN position upon successful completion/graduation of ADN program in December 2028.
