Principal Technology Advisor - BEAM Full-Time United Methodist Communities Home Office| Neptune, NJ

Start a new career as a Principal Technology Advisor - BEAM with United Methodist Communities! United Methodist Communities has been Certified as a Great Place to Work for 9 consecutive years, and 87% of our team members say they feel they make a difference in the work they do. With more than a century of service in New Jersey, our community offers a rewarding environment where your work truly matters.

What You'll Do:

Portfolio Leadership

  • Serve as the primary technology advisor for assigned clients, building trusted relationships with leadership, staff, boards, and strategic partners while gaining a deep understanding of their goals, operations, and technology needs
  • Lead ongoing client engagement through regular meetings, communication, action item follow-up, and accountable relationship management while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and vendor-neutral consulting practices

Strategy, Risk, and Board Advisory

  • Lead STRONG assessments (Strategy, Technology, Risk, Operations, Norms, Governance), CIS-based cybersecurity scoring, budget analysis, and IT structuring reviews, and build technology strategies, roadmaps, budgets, and staffing plans sized to each client’s revenue and maturity
  • Advise boards and executives on cyber risk, breach readiness, AI governance, and affiliation or vendor diligence, translating technical risk into board terms: the decision, the cost, the exposure, and the timing

AI and Transformation Delivery

  • Lead AI readiness, governance, and adoption, including policies, use-case selection, and Copilot and AI literacy rollouts, in partnership with BEAM’s digital literacy and adoption specialist
  • Scope and oversee hands-on work, including Microsoft 365 and cybersecurity configuration, automation, data, and integration, delivered with BEAM’s specialists and partners, with results measured as staff time returned to residents, risk reduced, or cost avoided

Growth and Business Development

  • Expand within the portfolio by identifying the next service each client needs, and open new relationships through referral partners, LeadingAge, CAST, state associations, conferences, and your own professional network
  • Write proposals and statements of work that hand off cleanly to delivery, and represent BEAM Advisors through speaking, workshops, and thought leadership

Practice Building

  • Turn repeated work into reusable BEAM assets such as assessment templates, benchmarks, an AI governance toolkit, and playbooks, while helping improve BEAM’s methodology and onboarding resources
  • Mentor BEAM specialists as they join, and support UMC’s own technology strategy and innovation work, in an advisory role with no help desk or on-call duties

What You'll Need:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, business, healthcare administration, management, or a related discipline
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in technology leadership, consulting, program or project management, IT operations, cybersecurity, digital transformation, or a related field, including at least 5 years owning executive-level relationships as a CIO, IT director, or senior consultant
  • Ability to maintain any license, credential, or authorization required for assigned travel or client-site access

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in business, information systems, healthcare administration, organizational leadership, or a related field
  • Experience as a CIO, IT director, senior technology advisor, management consultant, or program leader; experience managing a portfolio of clients or business units; and experience in senior living, aging services, healthcare, nonprofit, or another regulated and operationally complex environment
  • Experience in an MSP or advisory firm
  • working knowledge of PointClickCare, MatrixCare, Yardi, or RealPage and of resident call and safety systems;
  • PMP, ITIL, CISM, CISSP, CHCIO, Prosci, Microsoft, or a comparable technology, security, project management, or change management certification
