It uses scientific molding methods to set up molds, troubleshoot problems and drive continuous improvement. Our Philosophy: Remember Safety, Quality, Quantity in that order!
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, start up and optimize injection molding processes using scientific / decoupled molding principles.
- Develop and document robust processes, including viscosity curves, gate-seal studies, cavity balance, pressure-drop studies and process windows.
- Troubleshoot molding defects such as short shots, flash, sink, warp, splay, burns and dimensional variation, and find the root cause.
- Monitor processes with cavity pressure systems (RJG eDART® / CoPilot® preferred) and set alarm limits and containment.
- Support new mold and new product trials, validations and qualifications.
- Keep process sheets, setup instructions and process change records accurate, following change control.
- Work with Quality on 5 Why, 8D and corrective actions for customer and internal issues.
- Help Maintenance and Tooling with mold, press, hot runner, dryer, TCU and automation problems.
- Look for ways to cut cycle time, scrap and downtime, and support cost-savings projects.
- Train setup techs and operators on process basics and good molding practice.
- Follow all safety, 5S and quality system requirements (ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 as applicable).

- Experience setting up and troubleshooting molds on hydraulic and/or electric presses (e.g., Arburg, Milacron, Nissei).
- Understanding of plastic materials, drying requirements and how they behave in processing.
- Able to use basic measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges).
- Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, ERP/MES systems).
- Good troubleshooting, documentation and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- RJG training: Systematic Molding, Master Molder I/II, or equivalent scientific molding certification.
- Prior RJG eDART® / CoPilot® experience with cavity pressure monitoring and template setup.
- Experience with engineering resins, insert molding or multi-cavity hot runner tools.
- Familiarity with DOE, SPC, PFMEA and control plans.
- Experience with robots, end-of-arm tooling and auxiliary equipment.
- Associate degree or technical certificate in plastics technology, manufacturing or a related field.
