Automation Technician

• A Field Automation Technician is responsible for the engineering and implementation of Field automation SCADA systems across the Permian Basin. This position performs the day-to-day operations of the in-place SCADA solutions and identifies, investigates, and resolves SCADA System issues. The specialist will be involved in the implementation of new SCADA System solutions, including the field automation devices (PLC, RTU, POC) setup and programming. This position is expected to support all MSP Permian basin SCADA/Automation/I&E Systems. This position will work day-to-day with Permian field personnel as well as working at the direction of the Fort Worth engineering and Automation Systems staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design and implement new SCADA systems, monitor, and support/maintain existing systems.
• Work with team to build and support SCADA related infrastructure systems.
• Lead various SCADA/Automation systems project including the project leadership of vendors and contractors.
• Respond to phone calls, system calls related to trouble tickets; perform troubleshooting as needed.
• Develop and maintain diagrams and documentation as appropriate.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• 5+ oil and gas field automation system experience preferred.
• 5+ years of relevant experience; Specific experience in SCADA/Automation system including Wellsite RTU/PLC/POC device, communication systems. Hands on experience with Wonderware, Cygnet, XSPOC and FoxBoro DCS systems preferred.
• 3+ years of experience with PLC/RTU instrumentation and controls.
• Knowledge of Modbus communication protocols and addressing.
• Knowledge of CO2 Plant Foxboro DCS systems a plus.
• Perform basic programming with little to no assistance.
• SCADA systems integration, support and setup, communication system setup and support.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, and blue-print schematics.
• Prepare, install, and provide service maintenance on all company products, which may include equipment calibrations, troubleshooting, repairs, tank measurements, H2O measurements, radio installations, antenna adjustments, and other communication duties without supervision.
• Perform PLC/RTU troubleshooting.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair well head automation, Lufkin POCs.
• Work with and supervise Automation Contractors.
• Regular and timely attendance.

• Must be able to travel.
