Position Summary

TACI is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair our fleet of commercial trucks, trailers, and construction equipment. The ideal candidate has experience working on Ford diesel trucks, hydraulic systems, brake systems, electrical systems, trailers, and fleet maintenance programs.

This position plays a critical role in minimizing equipment downtime through preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, inspections, and efficient repairs while ensuring TACI's fleet remains safe, reliable, and ready to support telecommunications and fiber construction projects throughout California.

Primary Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair Ford diesel engines, commercial trucks, trailers, and construction equipment.

• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, computerized diagnostics, and scheduled fleet service.

• Repair hydraulic, brake, electrical, suspension, steering, cooling, fuel, drivetrain, lighting, and trailer systems.

• Maintain accurate service records and support fleet inspections, equipment readiness, and occasional field repairs.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1-3 years of diesel mechanic, commercial truck repair, or fleet maintenance experience.

• Experience diagnosing and repairing Ford commercial diesel trucks using computerized diagnostic equipment and standard testing tools.

• Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, brakes, electrical systems, trailers, preventative maintenance, BIT inspections, and DOT requirements.

• Strong mechanical troubleshooting, organization, and time-management skills with the ability to work independently in shop and field environments.

Physical Requirements

This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, working underneath vehicles, lifting heavy components, and operating shop equipment throughout the workday. Candidates must be able to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds, climb ladders up to 12 feet, work overtime when required, and perform repairs in both shop and field environments.
