Remote Work Available: Yes
Senior eCommerce Platform Engineer
ROLE SUMMARY:
The Senior eCommerce Platform Engineer owns the health, reliability, availability, performance, and operational maturity of the production eCommerce ecosystem.
The role is accountable for answering:
“Is the platform healthy, observable, reliable, and ready to operate in production?”
This position partners with Application Engineering, DevOps, Product, and L3 / Ops Res teams to ensure commerce, content, catalog, search, promotions, integrations, and related services are resilient, scalable, and supportable. The primary focus is production health and reliability rather than feature delivery.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Platform Health & Observability
- Own overall eCommerce platform health, availability, performance, and production stability.
- Establish and maintain dashboards, logging, metrics, tracing, synthetic monitoring, and health checks.
- Define and track SLIs, SLOs, availability targets, and performance thresholds.
- Tune monitoring and alerts to identify actionable issues while reducing noise and false positives.
Incident & Problem Management
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex or recurring production issues.
- Identify systemic issues across APIs, integrations, scheduled jobs, queues, indexing, caching, and background processing.
- Analyze incident trends and drive permanent corrective actions to reduce recurrence and improve recovery times.
Performance & Capacity
- Own application performance, capacity planning, and peak-event readiness.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and scaling risks.
- Ensure the platform can support growth, traffic increases, large catalogs, and high-volume promotional events.
Production & Environment Readiness
- Ensure new capabilities meet production-readiness standards before release.
- Support release validation, rollback preparedness, and post-deployment stabilization.
- Maintain application environment health and configuration consistency, partnering with DevOps on infrastructure needs.
- Support platform maintenance, upgrades, patching, and lifecycle activities.
Automation & Operational Excellence
- Drive automation, self-healing capabilities, operational guardrails, and repeatable remediation.
- Develop tooling and workflows that reduce manual operational work.
- Create SOPs, runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and operational standards.
Support Enablement
- Enable L3 / Ops Res teams to independently resolve repeatable operational issues.
- Establish clear escalation paths and support boundaries.
- Provide documentation, training, and tooling that reduce unnecessary engineering escalation.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years supporting complex, high-volume eCommerce or digital platforms in production.
- Strong experience with observability, monitoring, alerting, logging, SLIs, SLOs, and application performance monitoring.
- Strong incident management, root cause analysis, and problem-management skills.
- Experience with distributed systems, APIs, integrations, message queues, asynchronous processing, caching, CDNs, and background processing.
- Experience with performance engineering, capacity planning, and peak-event readiness.
- Experience supporting production deployments, rollback planning, release validation, and post-release stabilization.
- Ability to automate operational processes using scripting, tooling, or workflow automation.
- Strong documentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to distinguish repeatable operational work from work requiring application or infrastructure engineering.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with Adobe Commerce or other enterprise/composable commerce platforms.
- Experience with content, catalog, search, pricing, and promotions platforms.
- Experience with enterprise commerce integrations involving product, inventory, pricing, promotions, customers, or orders.
- Experience supporting large catalogs, multi-store or multi-site environments, and high-volume traffic events.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, CDN technologies, caching layers, and distributed application architectures.
Please apply directly through our official careers site or authorized recruitment channels. Using third-party application services may create issues with your applicant profile and lead to processing delays.
Salary will be commensurate with experience. A comprehensive benefits package including paid time off is offered with this position.
