Founding Forward Deployed Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE

Join an early-stage B2B SaaS team building AI-powered tools for revenue growth. As a founding Forward Deployed Engineer, you will lead technical deployments with enterprise customers, translating complex data environments and business knowledge into reliable workflows that support measurable outcomes.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Lead customer onboarding end to end, including scoping data access, exploring undocumented warehouses, and mapping schemas to business concepts such as churn, expansion, and recurring revenue.
• Build and validate semantic models by working with customer stakeholders to resolve conflicting definitions and encode business logic in verified SQL.
• Deploy workflows and AI agent pipelines into customer environments, then monitor their performance and impact.
• Manage multiple customer engagements, collaborating with customer data and engineering teams while completing hands-on data work.
• Use internal agent tools and share feedback to improve evaluation guardrails, validation frameworks, and agent infrastructure.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Two to five years of experience in forward deployed engineering, data science, or customer-facing software engineering.
• Experience owning technical customer deployments end to end and independently shipping production code, data pipelines, or systems.
• Strong SQL and data warehouse skills, including the ability to work with undocumented or legacy schemas and validate results independently.
• Experience with data science or machine learning, or academic grounding in statistics, mathematics, or applied mathematics.
• Familiarity with SQL, dbt, data warehousing, Python, LLMs, AI agents, signal engineering, or evaluation frameworks.
• A degree in computer science, data science, statistics, or a quantitative STEM field, with strong technical fundamentals.
• Customer-facing experience, comfort defending technical recommendations with evidence, and patience for detailed data verification work.
• Experience in a startup, consulting, or similarly hands-on environment is valuable.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Base salary: $180,000 to $250,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is available.

LOCATION

On-site, five days per week in New York, New York.
