Original job description
ABOUT THE ROLE
Join an early-stage cloud infrastructure company as a Founding Engineer, building software that helps teams deploy and manage applications in their own cloud environments. This hands-on role combines production engineering, infrastructure problem-solving, and direct customer collaboration.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Build production-grade software across cloud infrastructure surfaces.
- Own technical work end to end, from architecture and implementation through production deployment.
- Investigate production issues by examining virtual machines, logs, and third-party open-source dependencies.
- Collaborate with teammates on technical problems affecting customers' infrastructure and share product feedback.
- Work in two-week project cycles, independently proposing and driving projects.
- Speak with customers directly through Slack and use their needs to inform infrastructure decisions.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Five to eight years of experience building and shipping complex production software, including experience across roughly two startups.
- Experience as a founding engineer or one of the earliest technical hires.
- A strong background in distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, or both.
- Experience owning production systems and solving technical problems from system design through deployment.
- Ability to debug complex systems under pressure, including working directly with virtual machines and log files.
- Comfort operating independently in environments without established processes or a defined playbook.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Base salary is $200,000 to $270,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is available for candidates authorized to work in the United States.
LOCATION
On-site, five days per week in New York City, New York.
