Founding Backend & Infrastructure Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE

Join an early-stage healthtech team as a founding engineer, owning the backend systems behind clinical and financial workflows. You will build infrastructure that processes complex healthcare data and supports clinical AI capabilities in production.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Build and scale distributed backend systems for chart processing, claims, authorizations, denials, and payer and provider integrations.
• Develop browser and computer-use automation for navigating medical record software and payer portals.
• Design reliable systems to process scanned charts, PDFs, structured claims, unstructured notes, and operational data at scale.
• Build orchestration, queuing, retry, and observability infrastructure for long-running workflows across healthcare systems.
• Partner with research and product engineers to bring clinical intelligence capabilities into production.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• At least 3 years of backend software engineering experience, with a track record of owning complex infrastructure and systems end to end.
• Strong experience with Python, microservices, distributed systems, and backend infrastructure.
• Background in data pipelines, workflow orchestration, or processing large and messy datasets at scale.
• Production experience with LLMs or machine learning models, plus browser automation or complex integrations.
• Strong computer science, mathematics, or related technical foundations, and an interest in hands-on work at an early-stage startup.
• Authorization to work without visa sponsorship is required.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Base salary is $160,000 to $200,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
