Founding AI Agent Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE

Join a healthtech team building conversational AI agents for clinical trial recruitment and participant support. You will own the development of a patient-facing agent, helping make trial recruitment more efficient while building for safety in a regulated healthcare environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Orchestrate AI agents that coordinate recruitment across multiple clinical trials.
• Review production conversations, identify challenging scenarios, turn them into evaluations, and improve the agent harness.
• Integrate health profile data sources to support timely outreach and patient qualification.
• Develop consistent, personalized agent experiences across voice, SMS, and email.
• Evaluate new agent research and tooling and incorporate suitable approaches into the software platform.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• 0 to 4 years of experience as a software engineer, agent engineer, or applied AI engineer.
• Substantial experience building conversational agents and agent harnesses for real-world use at scale, beyond prototypes or internal tools.
• Experience developing evaluation and tracing infrastructure for AI agents.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and an undergraduate degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field.
• Familiarity with conversational AI, LLMs, agent orchestration, LangGraph, Vercel AI SDK, voice AI, SMS APIs, and healthcare data integrations.
• Healthtech experience or interest is valued, as is experience building consumer-facing AI products.
• Must be able to work on-site in the San Francisco Bay Area, start within four weeks, and work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Base salary: $150,000 to $220,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
