ABOUT THE ROLE
Join an early-stage healthtech company building conversational AI agents for clinical trial recruitment and patient support. You will own the development of a patient-facing agent, helping shape the product as it expands across clinical trials and communication channels.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Build and orchestrate AI agents that coordinate patient recruitment across multiple clinical trials.
- Review production conversation traces, identify failure scenarios, turn them into evaluations, and use results to improve the agent harness.
- Integrate health profile data sources to help agents contact and qualify potential trial participants.
- Scale language model experiences across voice, SMS, and email while maintaining consistent, personalized conversations.
- Evaluate emerging agent tools and research, and incorporate useful capabilities into the product.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Zero to four years of experience as a software engineer, agent engineer, or applied AI engineer.
- Hands-on experience building production conversational agents and agent harnesses at scale, beyond prototypes or personal projects.
- Experience developing evaluation and tracing infrastructure for AI agents.
- Applied LLM experience and a full-stack software engineering background; familiarity with agent orchestration, voice AI, SMS APIs, and tools such as LangGraph or the Vercel AI SDK is relevant.
- Strong CS, math, or related fundamentals, typically demonstrated through an undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
- Interest or experience in healthtech, healthcare, or life sciences is valuable.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship and able to work on-site in the San Francisco Bay Area.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Base salary: $150,000 to $220,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
LOCATION
On-site in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, United States.
