Forward Deployed Software Engineer, Tactical Edge

ABOUT THE ROLE

Join a small, customer-facing engineering team deploying data and analytics software in tactical edge environments. You will build and support systems on compact, on-prem hardware where resource constraints, limited connectivity, and demanding operational conditions make reliability essential.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Own end-to-end delivery of high-stakes customer projects, working with minimal supervision.
• Work directly with customers to design and deploy containerized software in air-gapped, on-premises, and edge environments.
• Troubleshoot network and systems issues, review monitoring and alerts, manage configurations and load balancing, and support container orchestration and upgrades.
• Provide operational support to help resolve issues quickly and minimize disruption to customer operations.
• Discuss technical architecture with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Travel to customer locations approximately 25% of the time.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Two to five years of software engineering experience, including hands-on integration with physical hardware or edge systems.
• A computer science degree and strong software engineering fundamentals.
• Experience deploying and managing containerized applications with Kubernetes.
• Deep Linux systems experience, including administration, networking, and on-premises infrastructure.
• Proficiency in one or more of Python, Java, Bash, Go, or JavaScript.
• Experience in defense, government, systems integration, or related customer environments; familiarity with data and analytics platforms is a plus.
• An active US Secret or Top Secret security clearance and authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Base salary is $135,000 to $200,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.

LOCATION

Remote, United States. The primary location is Palo Alto, California. The role requires travel to customer locations.
