Forward Deployed Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE

Join a team building AI-native software for public sector organizations. You will own technical delivery from discovery through deployment, helping government clients modernize legacy systems and improve public services.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Meet with government clients to understand their needs, design solutions, and deliver working software.
• Build and iterate on products using AI coding tools as part of your daily workflow.
• Develop reusable components, data models, and workflows that can support future deployments.
• Work directly with non-technical stakeholders while spending most of your time building.
• Travel occasionally to client sites, approximately five days per quarter.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• One to five years of experience as a forward deployed engineer or in a customer-facing software engineering role.
• Experience owning a technical deployment end to end, from initial build through customer adoption and ongoing maintenance.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, or similar.
• Strong full-stack engineering skills, including backend and frontend development, data modeling, and workflow systems.
• Experience in software-focused AI, an early-stage technology company, or public sector and government-facing work is helpful.
• A technical degree or equivalent experience, with strong computer science or engineering fundamentals.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer visa sponsorship.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Base salary: $170,000 to $220,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.

LOCATION

On-site in New York, New York, five days per week, with occasional travel to client sites.
