Original job description

ABOUT THE ROLE

Join a small, fast-moving team in the space and defense sector as its first dedicated electrical and computer engineer. You will lead development of a satellite flight computer and help build the compute electronics for AI workloads in orbit.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Design and own the flight computer for a satellite mission, with this as the primary focus during your first 90 days.
  • Perform hands-on breadboarding, hardware bring-up, and debugging in the Los Angeles lab in collaboration with engineering leadership.
  • Work with manufacturing partners to develop electronics and compute systems for a full-scale satellite.
  • Shape high-speed interconnect choices, including NVLink and SerDes, and assess photonics and optical interconnects.
  • Write firmware and platform software for payload systems as needed.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Between 0 and 15 years of electrical and computer engineering experience, including at least one year at a high-growth, venture-backed startup or experience in a zero-to-one environment.
  • A degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • End-to-end custom board or system-board design experience, including schematics, high-speed PCB layout, bring-up, and debugging.
  • Knowledge of high-speed digital design, signal integrity, and power integrity.
  • Experience with GPUs, accelerators, SoCs, or large ASICs is useful, as is familiarity with photonics, silicon photonics, optical interconnects, or networking.
  • Experience working directly with contract manufacturers or original design manufacturers is beneficial.
  • Space, satellite, or radiation-hardened hardware experience is beneficial. Startup experience is expected alongside any aerospace prime or government contractor background.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or Green Card holder. Visa sponsorship is not available.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Base salary: $120,000 to $220,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.

LOCATION
