ABOUT THE ROLE
A defense and space technology startup is looking for an Electrical & Computer Engineer to own flight-computer development and contribute to satellite compute systems. You will be the team's first dedicated electrical engineer, with hands-on responsibility for hardware that supports an upcoming satellite mission and future in-orbit AI computing.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Design and own the flight computer for an upcoming satellite mission.
- Build prototypes, bring up hardware, and debug issues in the Los Angeles lab with engineering leadership.
- Collaborate with contract manufacturers and original design manufacturers on electronics and compute systems for a larger satellite platform.
- Guide high-speed interconnect decisions, including NVLink and SerDes, and evaluate photonics and optical interconnects.
- Develop firmware and platform software for payload systems as needed.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Experience as an electrical or computer engineer, from early career through 15 years, with at least one year in a high-growth, venture-backed startup or comparable 0-to-1 environment.
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- End-to-end custom board or system-board design experience, including schematics, high-speed PCB layout, bring-up, and debugging.
- Knowledge of high-speed digital design, signal integrity, and power integrity.
- Experience with embedded C or C++, firmware, Linux, or Python is relevant to the work.
- Chip-level experience with GPUs, accelerators, SoCs, or large ASICs is valuable, as is experience with photonics, optical interconnects, or networking.
- Experience working directly with contract manufacturers or ODMs, or with space, satellite, and radiation-hardened hardware, is beneficial.
