Original job description

ABOUT THE ROLE

Join an energy technology team building high-voltage power systems, and help turn early-stage prototypes into deployable alpha hardware for design partners. This hands-on role spans electrical design, simulation, lab validation, and end-to-end hardware execution.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Develop lab-scale prototypes into structured, testable, customer-ready hardware systems.
  • Design 800V-class DC power conversion, switching, and distribution architectures using modern devices such as SiC.
  • Model electrical, thermal, and system-level behavior with tools such as SPICE and PLECS, then iterate on designs.
  • Lead lab bring-up, debugging, and characterization with high-power equipment, addressing switching, timing, sensing, and protection challenges.
  • Use AI-enabled tools, including agents and language models, to accelerate design, simulation, testing, and iteration.
  • Coordinate PCB fabrication, component sourcing, and packaging with external partners.
  • Make practical tradeoffs across performance, thermal management, reliability, and manufacturability.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • At least 2 years of experience designing, prototyping, and testing power electronics systems.
  • Experience owning hardware from prototype through validation, including design, simulation, bring-up, and iteration.
  • Hands-on gate-driver design experience for fast-switching architectures and familiarity with high-voltage systems, such as 800V DC.
  • Experience with electrical simulation tools such as SPICE or PLECS, and power electronics technologies including SiC or GaN.
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or demonstrated aptitude in power electronics.
  • Strong system intuition and the ability to reason about electrical, thermal, and mechanical tradeoffs.
  • Experience incorporating AI tools, such as agents or models, into engineering workflows.
  • Background in EVs, EV charging, solar, or battery storage is useful; hands-on side projects are also valued.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Base salary range: $175,000 to $250,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
